Re: [RE-wrenches] LG RESU10 alternative

2022-03-09 Thread Vic Guillot
So our big issue right now is whether or not LG Chem honors their warranty
on the recall or do they file bankruptcy and leave the installers holding
the bag.

Re: [RE-wrenches] LG Chem batteries

2022-03-03 Thread Vic Guillot
In regards to LG Chem batteries, I'm surprised that there has not been more
talk about this issue. Our patience is running thin. It appears that they
are not going to send out RMA warranty replacement units anytime soon. We
have had a number of resu10's go code 43. We rma'd them back to socal lg
chem headquarters and now they are silent about when and where the
replacements will appear. My personal idea is that there is a class action
lawsuit against them and the payments to each installer cover the cost of
replacement of the battery and inverter. We would of course not use their
product but something that is proven to work. We need to make our customers
whole again asap.

Drake,
How long does it take to get Hasan on the phone, when you're onsite doing a
service call?
How many staff other than Hasan are trained to help installers with their
battery inverters, who are onsite doing service calls?
Do you happen to know if Hasan and crew have figured out a way for
installers to change storage profiles without returning to the site?
Some sites are an hour drive away which means 2 hours of drive time.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Working with SBS 6.0 and LG Chem batteries

2020-08-17 Thread Vic Guillot
Hey Dave,
Thanks for your input. The issue at stake here is that one or more large
solar supply companies misrepresented the facts on this combination of
inverter gear and battery. They did start the year out with LG Chem being
the first battery on the compatibility list. After months of complaints
they quickly pivoted somewhere around June. I know there are other
installers out there, we hope to hear from them too.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Working with SBS 6.0 and LG Chem batteries

2020-08-16 Thread Vic Guillot
Actually LG Chem was first on that list earlier this year. After recent
developments they started changing their views in June, and now it seems
like BYD is their first choice. We are most interested in talking to
installers who have used the LG Chem/SBS 6.0 with some success.
Thanks,
Vic

Re: [RE-wrenches] SMA Sunny Storage AC-coupled with SB6.0 won't recharge LG Resu batteries during backup ops

2020-07-15 Thread Vic Guillot
Hi Wrenches,
Thanks for your comments Jerry, Our company too has had issues with the
problems you discuss. It basically seems that someone has misrepresented
what is "doable" with the SMA storage inverter, ABU and Sunny Boy PV
inverters. We made the mistake of installing 3 in a row and then finding
out these issues with SMA. We really hate having customers mad at us! We
thus avoid these situations like the plague, or these days the Covid! So
what we have come to understand here is that you cannot AC couple SMA and
the LG Chem battery. So what is the point of having the ABU?
Thanks to Scott for bringing these issues to light.
