I just replaced a 48V Lithionics battery with a 51V and I saw on their spec
sheet that they do 12V and 24V as well. It seems like a very solid battery and
BMS, but I have limited information on longevity.

Thus I was considering LiFePo4 batteries however I'm having difficulties

let me know.

So if I'm stuck with AGM's stored indoors what brand would you suggest for a
heavy usage (1,500 Ahrs +) home?

I like the UnigyII or the Trojan AGMs, just started a set of Firefly AGM.
going to LiFePO is very expensive. I have usually had better than 4 years
on AGM, Are they overcharging? Undercharging? Do they have auto gen
start? For Li-Ion I have some good experience with Kilovault by AltE it is
a LiFePO and can be series connected to make 24-Volt. I do not know about
parallel and the size for what you need.

This is the main problem with a battery that relies on the electronics
inside to function. You have added another failure mode to a very basic and
reliable battery. The manufacturer has to be in business for us to spend 3+
times the price on LA for LFP to make sense.

Agree with Jay and adding they are too small in capacity. Even the
Discover at 6.6kwh is on the edge. However, as Jay said, they do talk with
each other and have a mode where they will work with Outback and Magnum.
They are the cats meow on a Schneider system as there is not much to
program. Dave Angelini / Offgrid Solar

Re: [RE-wrenches] Big AGM's and 24V Lithium batteries

2019-03-29 Thread Andrew
Hey Howie,

I would recommend staying away from them as well, I had a
faulty battery out of the box and it was a nightmare to get them to warranty
it, took about 2 months of back and forth for them to agree to warranty the
battery. Discover has an excellent YouTube video on the breakdown of the
internals theirs vs. the competitor and it’s pretty eye opening.

G'Day All,

Came across an older DIY 24v off-grid system. Looking to replace current AGM
SunXtender batteries with less then 4 years on them but severely abused. Client
won't go for my normal Rolls/Surrette because they are very sensitive to
smells.

Thus I was considering LiFePo4 batteries however I'm having difficulties
locating them in a 24v bank. If you know of anyone that goes that way please
let me know.

So if I'm stuck with AGM's stored indoors what brand would you suggest for a
heavy usage (1,500 Ahrs +) home?

Thanks,

Chris,

That is a big battery you need. I think you should take them to
48V. Both Iron Edison and Discover AES build LFP solutions without having

was considering LiFePo4 batteries however I'm having difficulties locating
them in a 24v bank. If you know of anyone that goes that way please let me
know. So if I'm stuck with AGM's stored indoors what brand would you
suggest for a heavy usage (1,500 Ahrs +) home? Thanks, Christopher-

[RE-wrenches] Big AGM's and 24V Lithium batteries

2019-03-28 Thread Chris Schaefer
G'Day All,

Came across an older DIY 24v off-grid system. Looking to replace current
AGM SunXtender batteries with less then 4 years on them but severely
abused. Client won't go for my normal Rolls/Surrette because they are very
sensitive to smells.

Thus I was considering LiFePo4 batteries however I'm having difficulties
locating them in a 24v bank. If you know of anyone that goes that way
please let me know.

So if I'm stuck with AGM's stored indoors what brand would you suggest for
a heavy usage (1,500 Ahrs +) home?

Thanks,
Christopher-
