Re: [RE-wrenches] XW Config Tool problem
Jeff, We've only done a couple of XW systems, but when I needed software I was able to have it emailed to me by XW tech support. If you don't get a response here, you might try that. I am also not sure if the old version would have worked with this newer Windows 7 laptop. Anybody have a link to where we can download a USB driver for this Xanbus interface that will work with Windows 7 ? Jay: In the past, XW config was not compatible with Windows Vista. I spent a lot of time with tech support failing to make the tool work with Vista before they remembered this limitation. Re: [RE-wrenches] XW config tool
Hi Jay: I recently upgraded the software on a large XW system with 3 inverters, an MX-60, controller, and a Gen Start Module. Schneider mailed me the adapter cable, and everything worked great. You have to upgrade the software to all XW components if you are going to upgrade the AGS software. The upgrade took about 40 minutes for my 6 components. Make sure that your laptop battery is charged, because you have to turn off the inverters during the upgrade. It would be slick to bypass the utility or generator power to the site during the service. If the laptop turns off during the upgrade, it can be really bad, because it can result in having to pull the inverters off the wall and sending them back for service!) I can't believe that the original AGS software did not support 2-wire start! The wiring harness has 13 different wires for a multitude of gen start methods, but they forget the most fundamental one! How does that happen? Gen starting shouldn't be so complicated. Re: [RE-wrenches] XW config tool
Jay, The one time I had to use it (to upgrade a 4548 unit with old firmware) it worked fine the first time. As I'm not a software nerd, I walked through the steps with Schneider tech support on the line, and this smoothed out all the bumps. I downloaded the firmware upgrade to my laptop, took the laptop to the site, and connected the unit and followed the wizard. The support was actually very good. This was just a few weeks ago. I don't recall (or can find the email) of who I worked with, but he wasn't Nick Klein and was very software-savvy. I hope this helps you.
