UI freeze break request for gnome-initial-setup
Hi, I would like to ask for UI freeze break to add "offline mode" for accounts page of gnome-initial-setup: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-initial-setup/merge_requests/23 The accounts page allows creating of enterprise accounts, but you have to be online first, which doesn't have to be obvious and leads to errors: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-initial-setup/issues/63 The "offline mode" prevents you from switching to enterprise page and informs you about the need to be online. We have already something similar in gnome-control-center for some time. The mentioned merge request contains screenshots. The change is based on mockup from Allan Day and has been already reviewed by him and by the maintainer Will Thompson. Re: UI Freeze Break Request for GNOME Initial Setup
I'll give a hesitant +1 here. (You also need a second approval.) * Please consider Will's concern about the network appearing to disappear after it's selected. That doesn't seem like a great user experience. * Use of NetworkManager in gnome-initial-setup is a known cause of crashers in the past, and there's not really any way to recover the first boot experience after that happens. So be careful. But the benefits do seem worth the late freeze break. Michael ___ release-team@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team Release-team lurker? UI Freeze Break Request for GNOME Initial Setup
Hi, I have recently created a Merge Request that improves how the WiFi list in the GNOME Initial Setup behaves. The reason is described in the MR's description [1]. So I would like to request that we break UI freeze and merge it (it doesn't break string freeze).
