Thanks for stepping up and fixing things.

Sorry, if the discussion was not clear enough to get that handled correctly.

Elisa application

2019-11-10 Thread Matthieu Gallien
Hello,

Through the messages on kde-devel, I noticed that Elisa did not get the
release/19.12 branch created.

As far as I had understood, Elisa would be part of the release service
starting with the 19.12 release. Should I do or fix things to help on this
subject ?

Best regards

I am indeed working on some fixes that could be applied to the stable branch.

At the moment, there are also some problems in the stable branch that are not
reproducible on master and I am not sure when I will be able to fix them but
they would be blocking for a new bugfix release (infinite qml binding loops).

I would say that at the moment, the probability of a new release is very low
and could be worked around via packaging patches (not ideal but could work).

What do you think ?

You are true, I am sure I will lack time to contribute as much as I would like
to.

On the other hand, it could be nice to at least try to list multimedia
projects needing contributors and try to communicate on that.

We could try regular (every two weeks sounds possible) blogs about what happen
in the multimedia world of KDE. I can volunteer to try that if I get help on
what projects I should look at.

I was not able to come to Akademy and I am not sure I have understood the plan
for the releases of applications made by KDE.
Is something needed to do to integrate Elisa in the future coordinated
releases ?
Can I help achieve that ?

Yes but I failed to understand that the FindFFmpeg.cmake was not able to check
the version. I have now open https://phabricator.kde.org/D13302 that just uses
the new API if one has a newer FFmpeg or uses the old API.
This should definitely solve the problem.

I am sorry for not having understood that was the only feasible solution.

This is a good idea.

You have got me thinking about what I am trying to achieve. Indeed, I
would like to get feedback both from real usage and from users. One or
several releases are a good way to achieve that.

I have a few questions related to this subject.

How does one perform a release of a software that is in playground or
extragear ? I want anyway to go through kde-review before any release
can happen.

Do you believe it could be possible to do releases very often (like
every two weeks) ? I could ensure no UI labels are changing so that
translators are not doing extra work.

In order to have bug reporting through bugs.kde.org, I have to fill a
ticket to sysadmin ? I have not been able to find a sort of policy
about that.

Question About kde-review and release schedule

2017-02-25 Thread Matthieu Gallien
Hello dear release team and kde multimedia team,

I was hoping to have my application (Elisa a simple music player integrated
using Baloo) ready for a release with KDE Applications 17.04. I believe I am a
bit late and need to finish one feature before being ready for review.

How should I proceed ?
Should I wait for 17.08 release or can I continue to work on this feature even
if review is ongoing ?
I am quite confident I will have finished before the feature freeze date but I
believe that review have to be done before that date.

Do you have any advice or other information about the process I should follow
?

Thanks in advance

Best regards
