Master Pro Stations had a thermal switch on the PS PCB that when it got to
140 deg F would cause the fan to stay on.  Else the fan operated during PTT
only.

- be sure to use aluminum window screen as it is for a 12 VDC fan.

Ahhh... but how many have 5-tone decode?

If your main 'fleet' is going to be mobiles and portables, go DTMF.
If pagers, go Quick Call II (AKA one plus one - standard paging).

Yes some of the older ham rigs had DTMF decode, BUT, my new TH-F6a does not
appear to have that capability any more. That is one reason that our group
has not started using DTMF decoding even though the controller is able to
send it. And yes, I still have a HTX-202 in the fleet, if I need to do DTMF
paging.

Most commercial mobile and portable radios, and some newer Amateur
radios, are already equipped to respond to 2-tone sequential paging. 
This scheme is far more common than the 5-tone scheme, and it works
fine.

Why would you use this in favor of a traditional sequential two-tone or a
DTMF sequence? And of those two, I'd pick the sequential two-tone to avoid
"happy touch toner's" from "accidentally" alerting someone. And some
controllers will generate a sequential two-tone for you.

similar to keeping a repeater going and everyone using it happy.

Good job, from the Village Clerk in Mayville, NY who owns and maintains

work.
