[Repeater-Builder] Re: repeater coax duplexer leads
Yes, Run what ever it takes to get from the radio to the duplexer. If the amp doesn't match the duplexer then build what some call a Z matcher it is a Pi network and consists of 2 veriable caps and 1 inductor. These things are way too simple to build to buy, and can be built for what you would pay for shipping for a commertial unit. Hent, look in most any ARRL Hand Book under low pass filters. The ones that I build for my repeaters usually costs me about 6 to 8 bucks each. 73 --- In Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com, Larry Kemper <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Anyone have any idea what length of coax I should run from the transmitter and receiver to the duplexer? unless you wanna make your own like I did once took and bought a pipe flange to fit a TV mast into, and screwed the flange on to a 2 X 4 board. I have used RG-8X and even RG-58 with excellent results in duplex systems, especially when the power is relatively low. I suppose the thing to do would be to use a DB-420 and 7/8 inch heliax, but this would be impractical for most mobile/portable repeater setups. There are lots of possiblities of things that could work for this application, I am only speculating on one thing that I personally know will work, not saying it is the best, or most desireable, but something that could be looked at for this particular scenario. Quarter inch or half inch superflex would work too, just don't know how much money a person has to invest in a particular project. [Repeater-Builder] Re: Decibel DB 404, 408 & 411 Antenna Drawings available
Double Mint, "two mints in one" My drawing of the DB-411-B has gone through a few revisions. I found another same model DB-411-B antenna in storage and have measured and recorded it's values. This second antenna was received complete, so it's measurements are more accurate. The $#%^# goof ball selling me the first DB-411 antenna (Ebay of course) cut off and discarded the lower half of the mast before he boxed and shipped it. ( wanted to string him up...) Notations are made for the estimated values of the first DB-411-B, but the second values included on the new paperwork will be of the an actual complete antenna. I'll send Mike a copy for the RB Antenna page and swap out the sonic page copy next week. Warm up you're Dayton Motors... Use quality coax (see Bob Dengler's message a few higher in the list) with silver plated connectors (no nickel) and start hooking things up. Folks use magic lengths to compensate for non-50-ohm environments, especially solid-state TXs, and to get the SWR under control. there was a thread on Z-matchers a while back I'd really like someone to consolidate all of that into an article for the archives at www.repeater-builder.com ...
