[Repeater-Builder] RE:Forced Battery Revert
Verision, in the Dallas, Texas area, recently sold their interest in BPL to Oncor, Which was part of TXU before it was split apart, who is the local power Billng and Powerline company for several million/billion, I don't remember the exact mononatary number, like it really matters anyway!. It was more money than I have in any case! The Local News said, part of it was to inform TXU/Oncor when the power was out at any particuliar address. WELL! I guess the Cat just got out of the bag! Fellow HAM's, LOOK OUT!, and have the addresses for your Congress Critters At the ready! (Please Remember, if no one contacts the Congress Critters, they Think it MUST be OK) Broadband via PowerLine, while it is workable, tends to interfere with low freq. communications including, (Of Course), those of the HAM Community! I will leave it there and let the rest of you please pass it along. BroadBand Via PowerLine is BAD for us unless THEY can PROVE that it will NEVER INTERFERE with our COMM's! Bruce Bagwell KE5TPN .
[Repeater-Builder] Re: Can anyone identify this old antenna?
That antenna was probably made by Phelps Dodge (before Cellwave). They are fairly broadbanded as the system transmitted at 152-153. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Can anyone identify this old antenna?
I was given several of those about 20 years ago. At that time they appeared to have been in use for at least 20 years so I suspect the design goes back at least into the 60's. My guess is they were made by Phelps Dodge which was a popular commercial antenna manufacture during that time. Re: Sleeper Duplexer Deal on Ebay 72 and 220 MHz bottles There's a 72MHz four bottle duplexer at auction on Ebay: Decibel DB-4038 Low Band 6 Meter Duplexer Set Ebay Item number: 300232286606 There are number of things you could do with these bottles, which include using them at 72MHz, loading them down toward 53/54 MHz and of course as-is on the 224 MHz band changing the coax harness and loop/probes per a straight-forward process. These bottles should have no problama' operating in 3/4 wave mode at 224 MHz. [Repeater-Builder] Sick MSF5000
I have a sick VHF MSF5000 digital repeater. It will not operate and the display cycles through the segment test (all segments test OK). Then shows 5.32 which I believe should be the firmware version. Then L06, L07 and the D07. None of these error codes are listed in the service manual (just my luck!) This cycle is then repeated. Also all LEDs are on. This station has been giving me similar problems for the last month or so. When it did, using the reset switch on the front would bring it out of this error cycle. Instead of trying to trouble shoot the problem, I would rather replace the controller if possible. Anyone have a source for spare parts? Randy WB0VHB

Hi Sounds like garbage on the 5volt bus. Change the electrolytic caps associated with the 5 volt dc converter. Just use good quality caps and it should solve the problem. You do NOT need the special 3 lead cap that M uses, just a good quality cap (low ESR) Ralph -- Original message -- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have a sick VHF MSF5000 digital repeater.
