[Repeater-Builder] Maratrac as a repeater transmitter -connections
Hello all, I am looking for some information on getting the maratrac to key up and the audio connections into the radio wjen using it as a repeater transmiter. I am powering it with a partial control cable and no control head. I would like to be able to use the partial contorl cable for all of the needed connections but I am willing to use the RJ45 programming port inside the radio if need be. Any help with the connections would be very appreciated! (what pin /wires, how to actually get the radio to transmit -gnd the PTT???) things like that.

[Repeater-Builder] SEA ESP1000 220Mhz Repeater
Ok Guy's, Got a new one here and looks to be a gem. Have an abundance of the SEA ESP1000 220Mhz repeaters. The question has anyone heard of them and will they program into the ham bands to utilize this nicely built repeater. They had Trident TNT controllers mated to them and the pin out looks pretty straight forward. We just want to know how to program them and see if they will play nice in the ham bands or are they a boat anchor. Does anyone need some Trident TNT LTR controllers. Mike
RE: [Repeater-Builder] SEA ESP1000 220Mhz Repeater
Folks, As other posts have mentioned these are not FM repeaters. If you do a Google search on them you will find some info on converting them to work on ham freq. In fact the person that did the work on it, is or was at one time a user of this list. Then there is the issue that they are ACSB, so you would need matching radios to use it. Or convert it to FM. This is not a simple mater. So I do not want to say it is junk , but would be in class of yes it can be done, just how much time and money do you want to spend to do it? Good luck and please do let us know what your outcome is. -Kevin _ From: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com [mailto:repeater-buil...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Mike Mullarkey Sent: Thursday, July 09, 2009 8:17 PM To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Repeater-Builder] SEA ESP1000 220Mhz Repeater Ok Guy's, Got a new one here and looks to be a gem. RE: [Repeater-Builder] SEA ESP1000 220Mhz Repeater
Mike, A fellow Ham once gave me a mint-condition SEA ESP1000 repeater, and I had high hopes of converting it to operate in the 222-225 MHz Amateur band. I finally contacted a tech support engineer at SEA, who happened to be Ham, and got both good news and bad news. The good news was that I could purchase the complete service manual on CD-ROM for $50. The bad news was that the modulation on these repeaters was ACSSB- Amplitude Companded Single Side Band, which would require major surgery to convert to FM. The next problem was that neither the power amplifier nor the power supply was able to sustain a full FM carrier for more than perhaps 5 or 10 watts. Finally, the synthesizer was masked to operate only within the commercial 220 band, and could not be programmed into the Amateur segment. This engineer said that even he- someone who was on the ESP1000 design team- would not undertake such an extensive conversion. I finally gave it away to make room for a more viable project. Re: [Repeater-Builder] SEA ESP1000 220Mhz Repeater
We acquired a rack of them . All that we found salvageable is the transmitter PA module, power supplies and the chassis. A hamtronics TX and RX with a Cat controller were mounted in the chassis. The filter frame was taken apart and parts were made into a marginal duplexer for 222mhz. We are trying to improve the duplexer, but are at a standstill right now. 73, Joe, K1ike Mike Mullarkey wrote: Looks like it has a nice switching power supply. Welcome to the trash can.
