[Repeater-Builder] Need Motorola Vibrasponder

2007-05-22 Thread Joe C
Hello all. I am in need of at least one Motorola Vibrasponder
TLN8381A frequency of 88.5. These are for a Motrac Rx. I looked
at Dayton but the old stuff seems to be gone. If anyone has one
or two for sale please let me know.

Thanks, Joe

I actually saw Ted at Dayton but thought he got rid of all his stuff.
I'll contact him. Thanks, Joe

 Joe,

The Q601 and Q602 audio power output transistors are the same as 2N5496.
The GE part number is 19A116742P1.

Anyone know the industry number for the transistors
on the audio heat sink assembly of a MastrII mobile?
 They look like TO-220 packages.

 Thanks, Joe

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Micor 375 Watt TLD5082 question?

2006-02-27 Thread Joe C
Byron, I finally got a chance to look over my notes. Our machine was
originally in the 152 mhz range
when it came out of commercial service. The amp is a model TLD5082A
which is for 150.8-162 mhz.
Model TLD5083A covers 162-174 mhz. What split is your machine? Have you
checked the power
before the harmonic filter? My notes verify that I converted the exciter
but the amp tuned down without
modification. I think we replaced or modified the harmonic filter for
one in band. Motorola did make
a 250 Watt version of this machine it's a model B83RCB whereas the
375 W station is B93RCB
I think the 250 watt version had a single tupe amp but I'm not sure.
Maybe some of the Mot gurus
can let us know. Your B+ should be 1500 volts. Hope this helps.

I have a Micor 375 Watt station that has the TLD5082 high power PA. I have
a fresh set of tubes in the station and on a commercial frequency (156.???)
it makes good power, about 400 watts or so.. I have tried to get it to tune
up on a 147.??? ham frequency but to no avail. I have heard of these going
down with no problem but this one just won't do it. I of course checked MOL
to see if the needed parts were available to convert it to the ham band
(TLD5081) but they are NLA...

Has anyone converted one of these to the ham band and if so what parts did
you change?

According to the manual the grid tuning cap and some other assorted coils
are needed, but I would like to hear from someone that has made one of
these work in the ham band...

Thanks for your time!

2006-02-23 Thread Joe C
Byron, I have successfully moved a 375 watt station down to the 147
region. Check that
your exciter is putting out the required drive pwr in the ham band. It
was a long time ago
but I think I converted the exciter into the lower band by just
replacing the components indicated
in the parts list. (the parts list shows frequency sensitive
components). I don't believe
any conversion was necessary for the AMP but the conversion was done
about 20 years ago.
By the way, that's excessive power. We run ours well below half power by
turning the screen
control down.
Good luck. Joe

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Help Standard C5718DA

2005-08-17 Thread Joe C
Hi Tedd, no it doesn't have a florescent display. It's display and
control functions
are all in the MIC. The radio itself is just an enclosed box with
connectors. They did
make an optional front panel display but I don't have one. I could send
you a jpeg if
you're still interested.

Is this the radio with the florescent display that was
re-branded by Heathkit? If so, I have a friend who has
the complete heathkit manual (I had to fix it a few
times, hi!).

Can you send me a picture of the radio?

They closed the Amateur division down at time of purchase.
I did call but they said they didn't have any documents
from the amateur line.

I searched in all the normal places including an FCC ID search but no
luck. Will purchase or be happy to pay copying and shipping charges.
