[Repeater-Builder] Fwd: DB4379UHF combiner

2010-05-27 Thread Ted Leonard

To the group,
I received the attached e-mail from a friend in the two way business.
Does anyone know if his goal can be met as he describes below?
Also could someone point me to the tuning instructions for this beast.

Thank you,
Ted W3VG

Ted, you're the filter guy.

I have a DB products DB4379-4404B 4 channel UHF combiner. You did a little
bit of tuning on it once in the shop.

Do you know, or can you find out, if it can be turned into two, 2 channel
combiners?

I want to combine 461.625, 461.650, 463.625 463.650 but the combiner is
speced at 50KHz spacing. There are two splits of only 25KHz on the
frequencies I need to work with.

Combining 461.625 and 463.625 on one combiner and antenna and combine
461.650 and 463.650 on another combiner and antenna would save me antennas
and feedline and lots of money if I can modify the combiner I own.

Makes ya wonder, supposedly it is a magnetic field that does the deed
but the fact that there is an inductor and cap in each side there is
resonance someplace.
Sounds like RF to me.

You will probably need to modify the programming software as described
 on Batlabs @: http://www.batlabs.com/r100.html

You will need to completely align the receiver and transmitter. Your
best bet is to track down a service manual. They are NLA from
Motorola but show up sometimes at hamfests and on ebay.

Thanks I have the manual and will check the Batlab site on programing.
I was hoping there would be someone who has -been there

 done that-

I recently picked up some Ball/Efratom 5/10 MHz Rubidium Standards (19
Rack-mount) that came from some local decommissioned SmartZone 800-MHz
Public Safetry Radio System sites. They were obtained at a local Government
Electronics surplus auction, and each one provided very accurate 10.0

They'll be listed individually on the auction site.

The first three chapters would be a great addition to the Repeater-

made, but would much rather give the book to someone who will post it

Be
Careful driving in New York with a scanner. Sec 397 of the V+T Law makes it a
misdemeanor to have a radio in your car capable of receiving police
