Re: [Repeater-Builder] Questions on Kenwood TKR-750 Repeater
Try using a real repeater antenna like a DB-224 with 1/2" hard line type coax. The Kenwood TKR disclaimer says you need to install a circulator on the repeater out put. If you e-mail me direct I will send you the Kenwood disclaimer back to you direct. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Questions on Kenwood TKR-750 Repeater
Since you bought two antennas, I must assume that you aren't using a duplexer. You need at least 80 dB of isolation, which means that the RX and TX antennas must be separated vertically by at least 135 feet. This will work only if the RX antenna feedline is 100% shielded, as in Heliax. A duplexer might be the better route. Diamond F23 antennas are not known for their quality of assembly, and there are many instances of cold-solder joints at the base loading coil, leading to very poor VSWR. It would be a good idea to check for defects. Be aware that the Kenwood TKR-750 receiver front end must be tuned before placing it in service. There are five helical resonators (L2, L3, L5, L6, and L7) that must be tuned to your RX frequency. This is easy to do, when you have the service manual B51-8556-10 in front of you. The TKR-750 receiver sensitivity is specified as 0.45 uV (-114 dBm) which is nothing spectacular, but it can be almost deaf before tuning. 73, Eric Lemmon WB6FLY XYZ wrote: > Hello All, > > We bought a kenwood repeater TKR-750 and 2 diamond F23 antennas plus > the programming software. > > Unfortunately we can't hear anything beyond one kilometer. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Questions on Kenwood TKR-750 Repeater
Did you just program the frequencies and tones??? the Rx front end need to be adjusted to your channel, otherwise will not have "good ears",..do you have signal generator??
