Be sure to join the 7330 Beta Yahoo Group, and search earlier messages in that
group. Also look in the FILES section in the Yahoo Group site.

About a year ago, I took the entire 7K vocabulary (same as the ACC and Link
Comm) vocabulary, sampled it, and converted it all into a custom vocabulary
file for the 7330.

With this file loaded into your SCOM 7330, your 7330 (like mine) can be made to
sound just like an ACC or Link Comm controller.

The original 7330 SCOM vocabulary remains with the 0xxx and 1xxx word numbers,
but you gain the TI sounding words at slots 3xxx and 4xxx.

 Hi Terry,

The two controllers store and play back audio files in very different ways.
 Here's how it's done in the 7330.

As shipped, the 7330 has about 1,600 standard words stored as individual
sound files. The owner can add up to 13 minutes of recorded audio in the form
of 1 to 2,000 additional sound files (the recordings are created with a PC
and sound card, then the finished sound library is loaded into the controller
through one of its serial ports).

The recordings are internally stored in flash memory as 8-bit,
uLaw-compressed samples. When a message is played, the samples are converted
back to linear format and sent to a 16-bit D/A converter and 5th-order
 lowpass filter.

Each D/A can access the combined stored recordings at any time, which means
the controller can identify all three transmitters with different voice
 messages at the same time.

Yes, it's real speech, much like the 210. It also has the means to
upload sound files (well, they need to be converted), so it can say
about anything you want it to.

James,

I have the S-Com 7330 and I like it very much. The command language is simply
and easy to learn. The serial computer interface is great for setup; I have a
text file that I upload to the controller.

Hardware build quality is first rate. Interface options made it very easy for
me to connect to my Mitrek repeaters and Midland 223-MHz link radio.

I have a 2-m repeater running on Port 1, the link running on Port 2, and a 6-m
repeater running on Port 3. Because of the extensive path circuit definitions
I can run any combination of linked or stand-alone ports; simple and efficient.
The on-board delay is adjustable so I hear no squelch tails and no DTMF on the
repeaters.

The pre-recorded voice is articulate and sounds very professional. The
Scheduler works well, although it outputs on Port 1 only. The next software
update (loaded easily via file transfer through the serial port) will feature
my own voice on .wav files. In addition, the Scheduler will output to any
port, not just Port 1 only, so that I can get my messages on the 6-M repeater
more easily.

In short, I am a very happy S-Com 7330 user.

Thank you everyone for your input. I have searched google, read mail
archives, and simply cannot find anywhere one problem or negative comment
about the controller. I think I'm sold.

Anyone out there using an S-Com 7330? Looking for any input on their
 reliability and operation.

We have 12 of them in service and adding more as time and money allows. That
says a lot right there.

We've replaced (upgraded) previous models including the 5K, 6K 7K ALL of
which have been some of the most reliable controllers we've ever had. I wish I
could say that about some other newer generation units out there on the market.

The new 7330 is a great unit. Full of features and flexibility. The support is
outstanding and the price is right. When Bob company put something out you
know it's going to be built to a high standard, work right the first time and
be hassle free.

We'd love to see more ports on future models which they have discussed making a
reality. Firmware feature updates come out and keep making them an even
better product. I don't think you'll be dissapointed; we certainly haven't been.

Hope this helps.

Just installed mine last week.. All I can say is it's my best controller yet...
Looks great in the rack, jumpered configuration makes installation a breeze,
and the price is almost too good to be true (but it's not), support has been
excellent...

Can't say any of this about link-comm... Scom has definately won me over!

The nice part about you repeater controller guys is there's
almost no work involved to make the box and write the software...
