  Looking at a (poorly drawn) map I have ... west of the highway 
 between Phoenix and Flagstaff ... less than half way. 

  May need a very detailed map to show it though.

Towers Mountain is 2.6 miles NW of Crown King, AZ, and 57 miles NNW of 
Phoenix, AZ.  The site is about 7,600 feet AMSL.  The NAD83 coordinates 
of the Towers Mountain lookout tower are 34-14-02.80 N and 112-22-04.48 
W.  There are dozens of transmitters at that site.
