Generally, ASI cards should ‘just work’ on CentOS setups, assuming that
Rivendell has been installed using the standard installation procedure at:
http://static.paravelsystems.com/rivendell-install-rd3/rivendell-install-rhel7.html
That said, there are three situations that could be keeping an ASI card from
working on such a setup:
1) SecureBoot is enabled. Disabling this in the system’s BIOS settings should
eliminate this problem.
2) The card is one of the model ASI4XXX series. These cards are ancient, have
known incompatibilities with modern PC hardware, and are not supported in
Rivendell at all. Unfortunately, they are also commonly found for sale online
at seemingly irresistible prices. Caveat emptor!
3) The ASI card model is one of the ASI5XXX or ASI6XXX series, but has been
‘end-of-lifed’ by AudioScience. The standard Rivendell installer uses the most
current AudioScience driver available (currently v4.20.21), which supports all
cards currently being manufactured by ASI. If you’re using an old card that has
been ‘end-of’lifed’ by ASI, this driver may not support it. However, you can
find a set of older drivers at
http://static.paravelsystems.com/audioscience/centos/7/ that may work with
these older cards.
Cheers!
