[RDD] Dropboxes

2021-06-23 Thread Chuck

Am I the only one
having problems with Dropbox on 3.6.1? We have not used dropboxes
before, but I want to start with our daily weather forecast. The
problems are as follows.

File imports, but
does not trim audio no matter what I put in the sensitivity settings;
begin and end markers are the entire file length, regardless.

Segue setting does
not work no matter my entry. In fact, the end segue marker appears
AFTER the file end marker, and the begin segue is even further along,
after
the end segue. Really weird.

Of course, “syslog”
no longer exists, but there is no log file in /var/log/messages nor
is there anything in /var/log/rivendell/operations. If I dictate a
log file and location, none is created.

In the course of
testing, after about 3 or 4 files being dropped, all subsequent
importing stops. It does not resume, unless I click Reset in the
Dropbox configuration dialog.

I am sure most
people use the dropbox mostly for program length material where
non-working trims and segues are either not used, or not as likely to
be caught, but without them, I cannot use it for our short weather
tracks.

Re: [RDD] Fresh Beta 4 on Fresh CentOS no ASI detection

Sounds like a driver issue. The ASI5111 was end-of-lifed by AudioScience a
number of years ago, so is no longer supported in the ‘latest and greatest’
driver version.

Chances are good that you can use an earlier version and use the card
successfully. First, get the driver RPM that you need. It's at:

http://static.paravelsystems.com/audioscience/centos/7/4.13.00-3/hpklinux-4.13.00-3.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm

Then, get a root shell, then remove the current driver by doing:

yum remove hpklinux

This will also want remove Rivendell. Go ahead and let it; we’re restore that
back in a minute.

Now, install the downloaded driver by doing

yum install /path/to/downloaded/rpm

Then, reinstall rivendell:

yum install rivendell

Reboot, and you’re done.

You are aware that this is a beta test version that you’ve installed (and a
rather early one at that)? It might be a good idea to verify that it actually
works as you need it to before investing a huge amount of time in loading up a
production environment.

Cheers!
