The importer interfaces are all ‘secret sauce’; you need a license from Xperi, who bought out the HDRadio IP from Ibiquity awhile back, to get the docs ($$$). I did this around 10 years ago when we put HD 1 through 4 on 88.5 in Tampa. I had some software that would do PAD/PSD data from...somewhere. I can't recall and Google is failing me. Maybe it was PRSS/Content Depot software labs or a similar source. The software wasn't designed to work with Rivendell, but I was able to feed it some data and then capture the packets that it put out with wireshark. Once I could see exactly the formatting that the HD Exporter/Importer boxes wanted to see, I just set up a daemon with netcat for each channel. I would send netcat the artist & title via UDP packet from Rivendell, and then netcat would spit out the correct formatting to the HD gear. It worked really well, but I do recall the documentation being basically non-existent (or, if it does exist, it's locked away in a vault at ibiquity). Without that piece of 3rd party software that I can't recall, I never would've figured out what to send in the data packets to the HD gear. We don't use this, but I'm curious about it. Is WSRO using now/next in an FM broadcast? If so, would the AM side be similar to the FM side? Can Rivendell deliver Program Associated Data (PAD) to HD Radio exporters or signal generators? If so, can Rivendell deliver PAD to the latest generation of HD Radio hardware?
