Re: [RDD] USB to Serial Adapter
Michael, I've never tried one, but if it is showing up as a standard USB serial port and in /dev/tty?? then it should work. It'll also need to be set up in the rdadmin --> Manage hosts --> Serial ports It also depends on what you're trying to do with it, but from what I can see it looks like it should work. Does anyone have a recommendation for a USB to Serial adapter? This is to control a BT 8x2 switcher using the Appliance v2. Ryan ___ Rivendell-dev mailing list Rivendell-dev@lists.rivendellaudio.org http://caspian.paravelsystems.com/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev

When I bought, I bought the cheapest thing I could find. Ended up with a no-name for around $20. It's a Prolific chipset, and been working fine for me. Re: [RDD] USB to Serial Adapter
I'd say go with an FTDI deal from Mouser or something like that. I've found some of the knock-off Prolifics to work great on some devices, and horrible with other devices. I've also used a Staples USB-Serial adapter which works great on the devices the Prolific knockoff doesn't, but works horrible on the devices that the Prolific works great with. Re: [RDD] USB to Serial Adapter
Hi Ryan We bought one of these in New Zealand from Dick smith to control the same model switcher... works like a charm after trying unsuccessfully to get a pci card serial adapter to do the job. http://www.dicksmith.co.nz/tv-video-cables/dse-serial-usb-adaptor-dsnz-xh8290 at $52.98 NZD its a bit dearer than the model that cowboy said about. cheers Geoff Barkman On 1/14/14, Ryan Williams rya...@gmail.com wrote: Does anyone have a recommendation for a USB to Serial adapter?
