[rkward-devel] Make plugintests fails
I am trying long time now the plugintests. I have the RKWard svn. In the source directory, I run the cmake ., make and make install. The installation is complete and there are no problems. After that I try the make plugintests. The result is the following message: RKWard either could not find its resource files at all, or only an old version of those files. The most likely cause is that the last installation failed to place the files in the correct place. This can lead to all sorts of problems, from single missing features to complete failure to function. You should quit RKWard, now, and fix your installation. For help with that, see http://p.sf.net/rkward/compiling.; Any idea about this? The folder of tests exists. I'm with ubuntu linux with self-compiled R-2.9.2. Regards, Ilias -- Come build with us! Hi Thomas, This issue is fixed in pre-4. It still takes some time to load the PHP script (about 25-30 sec for the histogram on a netbook intel atom 1.6Ghz and I MB of RAM with XP). Somehow I could not reproduce the problem in my windows installation, even though the path looks very similar for me (also with spaces). I have made a change that will hopefully fix this problem, but without being able to reproduce the bug, I can't really test. I will announce a -pre4 release for both windows and linux, shortly. 2009/7/20 Thomas Friedrichsmeier thomas.friedrichsme...@ruhr-uni-bochum.de Possibly, yes, or possibly it's another spaces-in-the-path issue. I did not get around to test this on windows, yet. Hi Thomas, A small bug in the windows version, now that I had the time to play. The CD to script directory does not work because of the slash before C:, See the example below. setwd (/C:/PHD-11-07-09/Python_R/scientific_R/rs) Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : cannot change working directory setwd (C:/PHD-11-07-09/Python_R/scientific_R/rs) this works. Ilias 2009/6/15 Thomas Friedrichsmeier thomas.friedrichsme...@ruhr-uni-bochum.de Hi, this is to announce the first preview release of RKWard running on MS Windows. If you have that other OS available, please give this a try: http://rkward.sourceforge.net/temp/install_rkward_0.5.1-pre2.exe . I fully expect there are still a lot of issues, including potential problems with the installer, but I think we are ready for a first round of testing. A number of significant changes have happened on the Linux/BSD platform as well (see http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/rkward/index.php?title=Feature_Planfor some of them), and if you would like to see them now, the usual source tarball is here: http://rkward.sourceforge.net/temp/rkward-0.5.1-pre2.tar.gz . An official 0.5.1-release is not yet scheduled, and is probably still some time away. A release timeline will be announced whenever a release is nearing, and as usual we will allot time for testing, translating and packaging. Still, with the summer vacation-season coming up, translators may want to start updating translations for 0.5.1-pre2, just in case. Re: [rkward-devel] How to deal with binary packages?
2009/5/6 Thomas Friedrichsmeier thomas.friedrichsme...@ruhr-uni-bochum.de The launchpad for ubuntu idea suggested by Prasenjit sounds good to me. I think it probably makes sense to use distribution-specific mechanisms like this as well, as long as the Binaries and Build Scripts page has the relevant and up-to-date instructions to find there. Hi I would like to drop to your attention the R repositories for some distros that can be found at http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/. I consider that they target a different group of users that want the latest of all. For example the latest ubuntu will not have R-2.9.0. However, although these repos may provide with the latestof R, there is always a (small) risk of breaking some things in the distro. The advantage of these repo is that provides with binaries (at least for ubuntu) for many version of the distribution and the latest R and the packages available. I can see that in some older versions they had rkward bur not anymore. Maybe a contact with the maintainers could help. Just an idea. 2009/4/30 I. Soumpasis nono@gmail.com 2009/4/30 Thomas Friedrichsmeier thomas.friedrichsme...@ruhr-uni-bochum.de The same problem in the 32bit ubuntu. Could it be a problem with integration with gnome? I assume that all of you have KDE and I have gnome. Possibly, yes. If it's not too much to ask, could you run apt-get install kdebase and start a KDE session on the same machine? If that solves the shortcut issue, then at least we know where the problem comes from. Well I tried. I installed kdebase and kde-core but still does not work. However many packages are missing from a full installation of KDE. Anyhow, if nobody can reproduce it let's leave it in low priority. I think that the problem probably is somewhere in the R console, because the ctrl+v shortcut works in the script editor, the Help Search, but not in R Console. Some new info. I detached the R console and interestingly the ctrl-+V shortcut worked. Attached again and stopped working. Re: [rkward-devel] How to deal with binary packages?
2009/4/30 Thomas Friedrichsmeier thomas.friedrichsme...@ruhr-uni-bochum.de So how to handle this? 1) Upload all contributed packages to the sourceforge download page. In case this is your favorite, there's a catch, though: I'd like to delegate most of the work to another person. Making file-releases is a cumbersome process, already, and I don't want it to take up yet more of my time. Volunteers? 1b) Upload to a regular directory on an HTTP-server (like http://rkward.sf.net/temp/). Possibly slightly easier to handle, but still I'd like to delegate that task. 2) Have most packages hosted somewhere else, and simply keep a list of links to those packages. Somewhat similar to http://rkward.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=Binaries_and_Build_Scripts (or http://apps.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/rkward/index.php?title=Binaries_and_Build_Scripts in the new wiki). However, we'd probably re-organize this page a bit, and try to make it more prominent (by advertising it as the primary download page). +1 for two. I made a few binaries for ubuntu because of the fast change of rkward and R the last month and send a binary to somebody from the list who asked for 64bit version. I do not consider my self packager, since the work for debian was made. I just had the ubuntu and R version needed and compiled them. Of course if somebody wants to build unofficial binaries nobody can stop him. He can uploaded wherever he/she wants. I have seen that many times in ubuntuforums for projects only with source that were somehow famous and there were requests for binaries. But always these binaries were unofficial. Another option is to have a list of people that can make binaries and their distributions. So when the time comes for a release these people are contacted and make also the binaries. These could help having official binaries for rkward. This could work like the translation of rkward when a new release is coming up there is a call. Just an idea. Both R and RKWard are compiled from sources. The only problem I have found is a floating toolbar (run selection etc) which forgets its position everytime I restart rkward and goes to the very right end of toolbars showing only one button. Exporting images, pdfs, printing, scripting generally works well and i have nothing to report. Also there is a prroblem (but i think this is mentioned) with the copy-paste shortcuts in the terminal. Finally, I tried the greek translation and i did not find any untranslated or problematic string. If so, could you check a) the default version of gcc: # gcc --version gcc (GCC) 4.1.3 20070929 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.2-16ubuntu2) Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc. This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. There is NO warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. b) the version R was built with # ldd /usr/lib/R/lib/libR.so | grep fortran I have a custom installation of R. libgfortran.so.2 = /usr/lib/libgfortran.so.2 (0xb7c54000) c) the version R thinks should be used for compilation: # R CMD config CC and post the output? gcc -std=gnu99 a second symlink was missing and resulted in a ld: cannot find -lgfortran error. to fix that, a ln -s /usr/lib/lgfortran.so.2.0.0 /usr/lib/lgfortran.so would suffice. Same issue, actually, since the 4.1 version of gfortran was used, while the 4.2 version should have been used. I had this problem. I installed some more fortran packages and the problem was solved. Also libR.so did not have libgfortran.so.2. Now I recompiled and there is the fortran library. Regards, Ilias - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. I guess it will become Shift+F7,8,9 for Run line, selection, all, then. Great! Yeap. Although I do not write anything it pops out every few milliseconds. It is more like it tries to disappear but it doesn't. And you cannot concetrate because it is flashing. I use compiz and because of the small delay to disappear a window maybe it is more annoying. I made some more testing. If I hit with the mouse somewhere in the script file stops to flash and remains constant and I can write. Else I still loose the first keystroke. See my other mail. I assume it's a kdelibs issue. But please remind me later, if the problem persists. Ok. No prob. Regards, Ilias - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Moreover in both it says F9. 2. I cannot close the tabs from the close button (which is a questionnaire) sorry a questionmark. I was doing some work with questionnaires yesterday. One third thing is that this autocopmletion window in dataeditor is flashing destructing the user and not letting him to write because the first thing you write is not printed (it is like you hit a key for this window).
