learned, that the main sponsor of this show is PALANTIR - one of the most 
frightening big data companies in the world.

for me it’s kind of alarming, that nobody really seems to care that weapon 
industry (and thats what it is) is funding art shows. did the artists know 
beforehand?

always a question of individual/subjective ethical judgement and decision 
making...
sometimes there are certain thresholds, for me that was reached with palantir 
in that context and my post was to check if it was just me…

Berlin Sonic Places - perspectives of acoustic city development

The project Klang Orte Berlin/Berlin Sonic Places was initiated by Peter Cusack 
in the frame of his Residency at The DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and 
explores our relationship with and the importance of sound in the urban context.
From June to September 2012 Berlin Sonic Spaces will illuminate the issues 
through talks, discussions and performances. In 3 one day events the 
perspectives of different interest groups groups – artists, 
architects/planners, sociologists, musicians, residents, administrators, local 
communities and the public – will be brought together for a lively dialogue on 
the city’s changing soundscape.
Three themed modules will be presented in three exemplary places – 
Pankow/Prenzlauer Berg, /Wasserstadt – Rummelsburg/Stralau and Tempelhof 
Airfield. They all explore the spatial and communicative potential of sound as 
a tool and a means of urban practice. A cross disciplinary dialogue will be 
built that traces out the complex relations and interactions of space-sound by 
presenting and testing new strategies, methods and possibilities of sound work 
within artistic and applied contexts.
The results of the Berlin research modules and the collaboration between Peter 
Cusack, Sam Auinger and students of UDK Sound Studies Berlin will be featured 
at Ars Electronica 2012 in Linz this September.

Klang Orte Berlin/Berlin Sonic Places continues the discourse started by Tuned 
City Berlin in 2008 and aims to develop it further in cooperation with the UDK 
Sound Studies and a wide range of local and international partners. The project 
is realised by dock e.V./tuned city in cooperation with The DAAD 
Artists-in-Berlin Program.

The former Funkhaus Nalepastraße, a historically protected building complex 
that was built 1951-56 in Berlin-Oberschöneweide and until 1990 was domicile 
fort he GDR radio, still impresses with its mixture of modernity and 
classicism, of monumentality and ironic casualty. The arched studio building 
contains several studios for recording and the production of radio plays as 
well as the famous hall 1, which Daniel Barenboim called “one of the best 
recording halls in the world”.

Klang Orte Berlin - Perspektiven akustischer Stadtentwicklung

Das von Peter Cusack im Rahmen seines Aufenthaltes als Gast des Berliner 
Künstlerprogramms des DAAD initiierte Projekt Klang Orte Berlin/Berlin Sonic 
Places untersucht das Verhältnis und die Bedeutung von 
Stadtlandschaft/Stadtentwicklung und Klang. Von Juni bis September 2012 
konzentriert es die Aktivitäten verschiedener Interessensgruppen – Künstler, 
Musiker, Architekten, Stadtplaner, Soziologen, Stadtverwaltungsmitarbeiter und 
schafft an drei Tagen eine nicht nur lokale Öffentlichkeit für diskursive und 
künstlerische Projekte im Stadtraum. Drei thematische Module an drei 
exemplarischen Orten – Pankow/Prenzlauer Berg, /Wasserstadt – 
Rummelsburg/Stralau und Flughafen Tempelhof werden das Potential der 
raumbildenden und kommunikativen Eigenschaften von Klang als Werkzeug und 
Mittel urbaner Praxis untersuchen. In der Schnittmenge der Disziplinen wird ein 
Dialog angeregt, der den komplexen Raum-Klang-Beziehungen und Wechselwirkungen 
in der städtischen Landschaft nachspürt und dabei Strategien und Methodiken, 
Möglichkeiten und Potentiale der Klangarbeit im künstlerischen und praktischen 
Kontext aufzeigt und erprobt. Im September werden auf der Ars Electronica 2012

Das FORSCHUNGSFLOSS - Institut für Kunst und Subjektive Wissenschaft der 
Künstlerin Agnes Meyer-Brandis wirft Anker im Flughafentower Berlin Tempelhof 
und präsentiert aktuelle Ergebnisse aus dem "Fall-Labor". Das Augenmerk dieser 
hoch über dem Flugfeld angesiedelten Abteilung liegt auf der Erforschung von 
Migrationbewegungen zwischen Himmel und Erde, Momenten und Objekten, die sich 
zwischen dem Fallen und dem Fliegen befinden. Außerdem vermittelt die 
Ausstellung Einblicke in die Arbeit der "Zentralen Abteilung für Kontrollräume" 
(ZAK), einem sich kontinuierlich wandelnden poetischen Archiv, in dem 
verschiedenste Experimente, Beobachtungen und Methoden der Künstlerin 
zusammenfließen.

Das vor 10 Jahren von Agnes Meyer-Brandis gegründete FORSCHUNGSFLOSS ( 
http://www.ffur.de ) ist als eine sich ständig transformierende 
Meta-Installation in Form eines Institutes für Kunst und subjektive 
Wissenschaft zu verstehen. Das Institut betreibt künstlerische 
Wirklichkeitsforschung in Form von Performances, Vorträgen  und Installationen. 
Dem Institut kann man in Zelten, auf Booten, auf Inseln, in einem 
Forschungsflugzeug, in Museen oder auch auf Gletschern*6 begegnen. Die Inhalte 
der weltweit betrieben Forschung finden sich in den Randbereichen der 
Wahrnehmung und der uns bekannten Realitäten: in Löchern, in Steinen, in 
Wolken, in der Schwerelosigkeit.

Kunst und Musik im Medienkontext sind transdisziplinäre Praktiken mit
vielfältigen Anschlüssen an Bildende Kunst, Wissenschaft und
Technologie, Kreativwirtschaft, Pop- und Subkulturen, Performance und
auch die Neue Musik. Sie sind prozeßorientiert und basieren auf der
Arbeit in und mit Netzwerken. Sie sind daher zugleich auch
translokal. Als solche sitzen sie ästhetisch aber auch in Bezug auf
ihre sozialen und politischen Milieus oftmals zwischen allen Stühlen.
Zugleich jedoch werden kreative Synergien heute von allen Seiten
eingefordert und stehen als Antwort auf die Herausforderungen
steigender gesellschaftlicher Komplexität hoch im Kurs. Diese
Diskrepanz zwischen der mangelnden öffentlichen Wahrnehmung bereits
vorhandener Aktivitäten und der Zukunftsfähigkeit, die den gleichen
oder ähnlichen Ideen und Praktiken zugeschrieben wird, erscheint auch
dem Problem der Sichtbarkeit und der schwierigen Darstellbarkeit der
Netzwerkkulturen geschuldet. Zumindest im Urbanismus-Diskurs beginnt
man gerade, die Rolle dieser im Gefüge der Stadt fein verteilten,
sich stets transformierenden und bewegenden kreativen Prozesse neu zu
bewerten. Können bestehende Strukturen - kulturpolitische
Instrumente, Institutionen, Gruppierungen, Orte - diesen Widerspruch
überwinden und sich entsprechend weiterentwickeln? Oder entsteht hier
ein neues Handlungsfeld, das entsprechend neue Initiativen,
Strategien und Orte benötigt?

Gespräch mit Andreas Broekmann (DE), Martin Howse (UK), James
Wallbank (UK), Carsten Seiffarth (DE), Carsten Stabenow (DE) und
weiteren.

Das Programm beginnt mit einer lokalen Bestandsaufnahme und konkreten
Visionen der Beteiligten Akteure für die Produktion und Präsentation
von Kunst und Medien in Berlin. Zudem wird der "Wegweiser Kunst und
Medien in Berlin" präsentiert, den Andreas Broeckmann und Carsten
Seiffarth im Auftrag von mikro e.V. hergestellt haben. In dem
Wegweiser werden 33 ausgewählte Berliner Institutionen vorgestellt,
die im Bereich Kunst und Medien aktiv sind.

Dahlia Borsche (DE) - Neue Musik und experimentelle Popmusik. Eine
vertrackte Liaison.

Die Grauzone zwischen Neuer Musik und experimenteller Popmusik ist
ideologisch vermint mit Vorurteilen und Abwehrhaltungen auf beiden
Seiten, während auf musikalisch-inhaltlicher Ebene längst ein
fruchtbarer und spannender Austausch stattfindet. Diese wechselvolle
Hassliebe hat eine lange Tradition, deren starre Mechanismen einer
unbefangenen Annäherung im Weg stehen. Mit einem Verständnis dieser
Traditionslinien kann man nicht nur Vorurteile aushebeln und
Misstrauen abbauen, sondern vor allem Perspektiven eröffnen für
gewinnbringende Kooperationsmuster, mit denen die Grauzone ihr

hiermit laden wir am Samstag, den 12.12.2009 von 15 - 18 Uhr
herzlich zum einmaligen "open studio" der Kölner Künstlerin Agnes
Meyer-Brandis in die Berliner Klosterstraße ein. Agnes Meyer-Brandis
arbeitet zur Zeit auf Einladung von DOCK e.V. im Rahmen des
Modellprojektes für ein Labor für Kunst und Medien in Berlin
"sommercamp+workstation=2009" an ihrem Projekt WOLKEN-KERN-SCANNER.

open studio: Samstag, 12.12.2009, 15 - 18 Uhr, Klosterstraße 44 in
Berlin-Mitte, U-Bhf U2 Klosterstraße

In der Projektresidenz entwickelt Agnes Meyer-Brandis zur Zeit eine
Installation und das performative Wanderkino. Beide handeln von der
Kunst und der Wissenschaft beim Fehlen der Schwere. Gemeinsamer
Ausgangspunkt ist ein Kunstprojekt in temporärer Schwerelosigkeit,
genannt "WOLKEN-KERN-SCANNER". Das Projekt wurde von Agnes
Meyer-Brandis im Rahmen eines ansonsten der Wissenschaft
vorbehaltenen Mikrogravität erzeugenden Flugmanövers des Deutschen
Zentrums für Luft und Raumfahrt (DLR) durchgeführt.

Die Installation "IM TROPOSPHAEREN-LABOR" ermöglicht Einblicke in das
von Agnes Meyer-Brandis unter den Bedingungen einer erdfernen
Realität erzeugte Material. Dabei thematisiert und mischt die
Künstlerin Kommunikationsstrukturen der zeitgenössischen Kunst mit
durchaus surrealen Formen der Wissenschaft (Nanotechnologie,
Fluiddynamikforschung, Meteorologie).
Ausstellung: 15.1. - 27.2.2010 im Projektraum der Schering Stiftung
Berlin (Eröffnung am 14.1.2010 um 19 Uhr)

Das Wanderkino "MAKING CLOUDS oder VOM FEHLEN DER SCHWERE" ist eine
Mischung aus Film, Performance und Vortrag. Es zeigt auf der
Grundlage von Schwerkraft und Schwerelosigkeit basierende
Flugmaschinen und untersucht Wolkenkerne. Das Publikum wird Zeuge
einer Wanderschaft auf der Suche nach dem Realitätsgrad von
Konstruktionen. Es erlebt die Realität im Film und den Trick in der
Wirklichkeit.
Aufführungen: 5. und 6. Februar 2009 um 18 Uhr im Virchowsaal der
sophiensaele Berlin

We would like to invite you on Saturday, 12th December 2009, from 3
to 6 pm, to the one-time "open studio" of the Cologne based artist
Agnes
Meyer-Brandis at Klosterstraße, Berlin. Agnes Meyer-Brandis is
currently working on her project CLOUD-CORE-SCANNER at the invitation
of Dock e.V. in the framework of the model project for a laboratory
for art and media in Berlin "sommercamp+workstation=2009".

open studio: Saturday, 12.12.2009, 3-6 pm, Klosterstraße 44 in

Starting point is an artistic project under the condition of
weightlessness, entitled "Cloud-Core-Scanner". The experiment
participated in a microgravity generating flight manoeuvre, that is
usually restricted to scientific interests and was executed in
collaboration with the DLR ( German Aerospace Centre).

The Exhibition "Tropospheric Laboratory" allows insights into cloud
cores and other matter of the apogee. The installation narrates the
synthesis of clouds and shows varying conditions and combinations of
art and science in the absence of weight. The "laboratory" is the
gravimetric document of "Cloud Core Scanner" - an experiment and
artistic project by Agnes Meyer-Brandis, carried out on board a
German Aerospace Center research plane. It reflects an iridescent
world, between controlled and unleashed states: artistic research on
the quest for a degree of reality within constructions.
Exhibition: 15th of january till 27th of february 2010 at the project
space Schering Stiftung (opening: 14th of jan. at 7 p.m.)

The Wanderkino deals with the Art and Science under the absence of
weight. As a mix of film, performance and lecture it shows flying
machines with mechanisms based on gravity and weightlessness,
examines cloud cores and presents a gravimetric documentation of an
unusual experiment. The audience witnesses a perambulation on the
search for reality degree of constructions. It experiences the
reality within the movie and the trick within the reality.

Wolken-Kern-Scanner - IM TROPOSPHAEREN-LABOR

Das TROPOSPHAEREN-LABOR gewährt Einblicke in 
Wolkenkerne und andere erdferne Materie. Die 
Installation erzählt von der Entstehung von 
Wolken und zeigt Zustände und Mischformen der 
Kunst und Wissenschaft beim Fehlen der Schwere. 
Das "Labor" ist das gravimetrische Dokument des 
Experimentes “Wolken-Kern-Scanner", einem 
Kunstprojekt von Agnes Meyer-Brandis, das in 
temporärer Schwerelosigkeit an Bord eines 
Forschungsflugzeuges des Deutschen Zentrums für 
Luft und Raumfahrt stattfand. Es zeigt eine 
zwischen geordneten und entfesselten Zuständen 
changierende Welt - künstlerische Forschung auf 
der Suche nach dem Realitätsgrad von 
Konstruktionen der uns umgebenen Materie.

MINI TUNED CITY NUERNBERG - SOUNDS OF MUGGENHOF - 11-17 APRIL 2011

Das Kulturreferat der Stadt Nuernberg in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Amt fuer Kultur 
und Freizeit/ Kulturbuero Muggenhof richtete im Rahmen des  
staedteuebergreifenden Kulturfestivals der Arbeitsgemeinschaft "Kultur im 
Grossraum", dem die Staedte Nuernberg, Fuerth, Erlangen und Schwabach 
angehoeren, den Kunstwettbewerb Give me five! Im Westen was Neues aus.
In diesen Kunstprojekten soll "Kultur" in ihrer veraendernden Kraft und als 
Motor gesellschaftlichen, politischen und stadtplanerischen Wandels 
thematisiert und sichtbar gemacht werden.
Wettbewerbsgebiet ist der "Nuernberger Westen" mit dem Stadtteil 
Muggenhof/Eberhardshof, der durch weggebrochene (Gross-)Industrie einem 
rasanten Strukturwandel unterworfen worden ist. Der Stadtteil mit riesigen 
Brachflaechen, leer stehenden Industriebauten (AEG und Quelle-Hauptquartier von 
Ernst Neufert!), hoher Arbeitslosigkeit und vielen sozialen und 
bildungspolitischen Problemen bedarf dringend einer Neuorientierung und 
Neuausrichtung, gleichzeitig bietet er ungeahnte Spielraeume und Potentiale.
Durch kuenstlerische Interventionen und Aktionen in Innen- und Aussenraeumen 
und unter Beteiligung der dort ansaessigen Bevoelkerung soll der Stadtteil "neu 
gedacht" und in seiner Veraenderbarkeit interaktiv erlebbar gemacht werden.

Sounds of Muggenhof – Tuned City Nuernberg naehert sich dem heterogenen 
Quartier aus akustischer Perspektive. Ein internationales und 
interdisziplinaeres Team aus Architekten, Stadtforschern, Musikern, 
Klangkuenstlern und Designern wird eine Woche lang den klanglichen 
Gegebenheiten Muggenhofs auf den Grund gehen und sich mit der Frage 
beschaeftigen, welche Rolle Klang bei der Auseinandersetzung mit Stadt, 
Architektur, Raum und Identitaet haben kann.
In mehreren Workshops werden unterschiedliche Ansaetze und Methoden einer 
solchen Annaeherung vorgestellt und praktisch umgesetzt.
Das Spektrum reicht von Analyse, Klassifizierung, Dokumentation und Kartografie 
der Klanglandschaft, ueber Erprobung architektonischer Strukturen und Raeume 
auf 'Instrument-Qualitäten' bis zu gebauten Klang-Objekten und 
Rauminterventionen.
Neben  Workshops, Installationen, oeffentlichen Aktionen, Audio-Walks und 
Praesentationen wird das Programm durch Performances in situ sowie Vortraege 
zum Themenkomplex "Stadt-Klang-Identitaet" ergaenzt. Mit John Grzinich

IRRATIONAL COMPUTING ist eine künstlerische Prüfung von Material, Ästhetik und 
Potential digitaler Prozesse. Die Installation
basiert auf Halbleiterkristallen, den Rohstoffen der Informationstechnologie, 
und bildet durch gezielte Materialmanipulationen eine
digitale Signalverarbeitungsmaschine, die an der Trennlinie zwischen Ordnung 
und Chaos operiert. IC verstärkt das Mystische und
Magische dieser Materialien, die der Kern unserer uns umgebenden Technologien 
sind.
IRRATIONAL COMPUTING entstand im Rahmen einer Residenz bei dock-Berlin in 
Zusammenarbeit mit der Schering Stiftung.

Zur Eröffnung spricht Dr. Andreas Broeckmann 
(Leuphana Arts Program, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg)
