Acum am văzut că avem un issue nou pe Techblog de acum 8 zile legat de
cum se construiește Techblog. Omul n-a citit deloc instrucțiunile și
aparent a deschis issues similare la alte 9 repositories folosind
Hakyll în perioada respectivă. Ignorați issue-ul, nu face nimic util
:)

Tot atunci știu că discutasem să existe un wiki ceva legat de
problemele bizare pe care le-am întâlnit ca anul următor
helperii/mentorii să știe unde să caute dacă dau de problemă similară.
Nu știu dacă s-a mai făcut asta, poate acum cât e fresh în memorie
experiența de anul ăsta merită făcută :)

all the interesting things that are reported. We hope you will find
it as interesting a read as we did.

If you have not encountered the Haskell Communities and Activities
Reports before, you may like to know that the first of these reports
was published in November 2001. Their goal is to improve the
communication between the increasingly diverse groups, projects, and
individuals working on, with, or inspired by Haskell. The idea behind
these reports is simple:

  Every six months, a call goes out to all of you enjoying Haskell to
  contribute brief summaries of your own area of work. Many of you
  respond (eagerly, unprompted, and sometimes in time for the actual
  deadline) to the call. The editors collect all the contributions
  into a single report and feed that back to the community.

When we try for the next update, six months from now, you might want
to report on your own work, project, research area or group as well.
So, please put the following into your diaries now:

   target deadline for contributions to the
November 2016 edition of the HCAR Report


Unfortunately, many Haskellers working on interesting projects are so
busy with their work that they seem to have lost the time to follow
the Haskell related mailing lists and newsgroups, and have trouble even
finding time to report on their work. If you are a member, user or
friend of a project so burdened, please find someone willing to make
time to report and ask them to "register" with the editors for a simple
e-mail reminder in November (you could point us to them as well, and we
can then politely ask if they want to contribute, but it might work
better if you do the initial asking). Of course, they will still have to
find the ten to fifteen minutes to draw up their report, but maybe we
can increase our coverage of all that is going on in the community.

Feel free to circulate this announcement further in order to
reach people who might otherwise not see it. Enjoy!

We would like to collect contributions for the 30th edition of the


  Haskell Communities & Activities Report

Submission deadline: 30 April 2016



The short story follows:

* If you are working on _any_ project that is in some way related to
Haskell, please write a short entry and submit it. Even if the project
is small, unfinished or used only by yourself or you think it is not
important enough, please reconsider and submit an entry anyway!

* The submission file can be in _any_ format you like. Although the
final report uses LaTeX, if it is easier for you to submit a Markdown
file, text file, Doc file or anything else, please do so. We'll be
happy to do the translation and get a new entry in the HCAR :)

* If you are interested in an existing project related to Haskell that
has not previously been mentioned in the HCAR, please tell me or
contact a project leader to get them to submit an entry. We have
received feedback in the past that some projects were missing from the
edition, but, sadly, that was too late at the time, but those projects
will be contacted for this edition.

* Feel free to pass on this call for contribution to others that might
be interested.

More detailed information:

The Haskell Communities & Activities Report is a bi-annual overview of
the state of Haskell as well as Haskell-related projects over the
last, and possibly the upcoming six months. If you have only recently
been exposed to Haskell, it might be a good idea to browse the
previous edition --- you will find interesting projects described as
well as several starting points and links that may provide answers to
many questions.

Contributions will be collected until the submission deadline. They
will then be compiled into a coherent report that is published online
as soon as it is ready. As always, this is a great opportunity to
update your webpages, make new releases, announce or even start new
projects, or to talk about developments you want every Haskeller to
know about!

FAQ:

Q: What format should I write in?

A: The recommeneded format is a LaTeX source file, adhering to the template
that is available at:

There is also a LaTeX style file at

 http://haskell.org/communities/06-2016/hcar.sty

that you can use to preview your entry.

If you modify an old entry that you have written for an earlier
edition of the report, you should soon receive your old entry as a
template (provided we have your valid email address). Please modify
that template, rather than using your own version of the old entry as
a template.

_However_, if you don't want/have time to format the entry for LaTeX,
you can submit it in any other format possible and we will be happy to
convert it for the final report.

Q: Can I include Haskell code?

A: Yes. Please use lhs2tex syntax
(http://www.andres-loeh.de/lhs2tex/). The report is compiled in mode
polycode.fmt.

Q: Can I include images?

A: Yes, you are even encouraged to do so. Please use .jpg or .png
format, then, PNG being preferred for simplicity.

Q: How much should I write?

A: Authors are asked to limit entries to about one column of text. A
general introduction is helpful. Apart from that, you should focus on
recent or upcoming developments. Pointers to online content can be
given for more comprehensive or "historic" overviews of a project.
Images do not count towards the length limit, so you may want to use
this opportunity to pep up entries. There is no minimum length of an
entry!

The report aims for being as complete as possible, so please consider
writing an entry, even if it is only a few lines long.

Q: Which topics are relevant?

A: All topics which are related to Haskell in some way are relevant.
We usually had reports from users of Haskell (private, academic, or
commercial), from authors or contributors to projects related to
Haskell, from people working on the Haskell language, libraries, on
language extensions or variants. We also like reports about
distributions of Haskell software, Haskell infrastructure, books and
tutorials on Haskell. Reports on past and upcoming events related to
Haskell are also relevant.

Finally, there might be new topics we do not even think about. As a
rule of thumb: if in doubt, then it probably is relevant and has a
place in the HCAR. You can also simply ask us.

Q: Is unfinished work relevant? Are ideas for projects relevant?

A: Yes! You can use the HCAR to talk about projects you are currently
working on. You can use it to look for other developers that might

If you have not encountered the Haskell Communities and Activities
Reports before, you may like to know that the first of these reports
was published in November 2001. Their goal is to improve the
communication between the increasingly diverse groups, projects, and
individuals working on, with, or inspired by Haskell. The idea behind
these reports is simple:

  Every six months, a call goes out to all of you enjoying Haskell to
  contribute brief summaries of your own area of work. Many of you
  respond (eagerly, unprompted, and sometimes in time for the actual
  deadline) to the call. The editors collect all the contributions
  into a single report and feed that back to the community.

When we try for the next update, six months from now, you might want
to report on your own work, project, research area or group as well.
So, please put the following into your diaries now:


 End of March 2015:

 May 2015 edition of the HCAR Report


Unfortunately, many Haskellers working on interesting projects are so
busy with their work that they seem to have lost the time to follow
the Haskell related mailing lists and newsgroups, and have trouble even
finding time to report on their work. If you are a member, user or
friend of a project so burdened, please find someone willing to make
time to report and ask them to "register" with the editors for a simple
e-mail reminder in March (you could point us to them as well, and we
can then politely ask if they want to contribute, but it might work
better if you do the initial asking). Of course, they will still have to
find the ten to fifteen minutes to draw up their report, but maybe we
can increase our coverage of all that is going on in the community.

Feel free to circulate this announcement further in order to
reach people who might otherwise not see it. Enjoy!

Acum câteva ore (vreo 30, așa), am dat un mail pe lista de members
legat de Techblog, lipsa activității și scorul mic pe care-l are în
feedback: proiect mort, etc.

Nu au fost multe răspunsuri, Vlad Dogaru a sugerat că proiectul e OK
cum e (cu activitate doar când vrea lumea să scrie, fără a face push
să scriem cotă de articole pe lună). Apoi a venit răspunsul lui RD,
citat mai jos și el a sugera să întrebăm pe lista generală.

Acum, din punctul meu de vedere, ceva gen SO/Askbot e la polul total
opus față de un blog. De asta aș fi sugerat să nu dăm cioara numită
Techblog pe care o avem pe vrabia de Stack Overflow pe care mai și
trebuie s-o prindem (read, implementăm sistemul, chiar dacă e doar de
luat un codebase și rulat ceva scripturi tot e ceva de muncă). Dar, la
o analiză mai atentă am ajuns și la următorul aspect:

Nu-mi dau seama exact de ce cineva ar folosi clona noastră de Q și
nu s-ar duce direct la SO/Quora/Askbot. Dacă păstrăm limba engleză
atunci nu avem nici un avantaj față de site-urile deja stabile, imho.
Iar dacă avem clona noastră de SO dar în română duplicăm informație
aiurea cu traduceri și nici nu poate fi prezentată celor din afara
țării.

Acum, dacă totuși se decide să mergem așa cu platforma asta, eu aș
sugera ceva gen Stack Overflow pentru posibilitatea de a-ți
crește/scădea valo^Wreputația pe baza răspunsurilor pe care le dai
(incentive pentru research cât mai bun și descriere detaliată). Afaik,
Quora nu are același incentive, chiar dacă și acolo poți vota pe
răspunsuri și întrebări. Iar Askbot n-am folosit deloc, deci nu mă
pronunț. Doar că trebuie să găsim ceva care să ne diferențieze de
SO/Askbot/Quora/etc. Fie format, fie activitate.

Ca să nu fiu complet negativ, mă gândeam că am putea adăuga câte ceva
la ce se întâmplă pe platforma asta (s-o numim RSO (Edu :P) = ROSEdu
Stack Overflow for now :P). O variantă ar fi să postăm frecvent (bot
sau de mână) pe pagina de FB, reddit-ul ROSEdu, twitter, etc
întrebarea (rile) cele mai discutate în ultima perioadă. O altă
posibilitate ar fi ca în momentul în care se strâng destule topic-uri
pe o temă să scriem un rezumat/articol tehnic pe Techblog. Așa am avea
și cioara și vrabia :)

Dar tot rămâne de gândit și văzut cu ce o să difere platforma de SO.
Ce o să-i motiveze pe studenți/vizitatori să folosească RSO și nu
Quora?

PS: m-ar tenta să mă ocup de asta, dar nu sunt încă sigur dacă pot/am timp.

 Haskell Communities & Activities Report

This is the short story:

* If you are working on any project that is in some way related
  to Haskell, please write a short entry and submit it. Even if
  the project is very small or unfinished or you think it is not
  important enough --- please reconsider and submit an entry anyway!

* If you are interested in an existing project related to Haskell that
  has not previously been mentioned in the HCAR, please tell us, so
  that we can contact the project leaders and ask them to submit an
  entry.

* If you are working on a project that is looking for contributors,
  please write a short entry and submit it, mentioning that your are looking
  for contributors. The final report might have an index with such projects,
  provided we get enough such submissions.

* Feel free to pass on this call for contributions to others that
  might be interested.

More detailed information:

The Haskell Communities & Activities Report is a bi-annual overview of
the state of Haskell as well as Haskell-related projects over the
last, and possibly the upcoming six months. If you have only recently
been exposed to Haskell, it might be a good idea to browse the
previous edition --- you will find interesting projects described as
well as several starting points and links that may provide answers to
many questions.

Contributions will be collected until the submission deadline. They
will then be compiled into a coherent report that is published online
as soon as it is ready. As always, this is a great opportunity to
update your webpages, make new releases, announce or even start new
projects, or to talk about developments you want every Haskeller to
know about!

FAQ:

Q: What format should I write in?

A: The usual format is a LaTeX source file, adhering to the template
that is available at:

 http://haskell.org/communities/05-2015/template.tex

There is also a LaTeX style file at

 http://haskell.org/communities/05-2015/hcar.sty

that you can use to preview your entry. If you do not know LaTeX, then
use plain text. If you modify an old entry that you have written for an
earlier edition of the report, you should soon receive your old entry as
a template (provided we have your valid email address). Please modify
that template, rather than using your own version of the old entry as a
template.

_However_, if you don't want/have time to format the entry for LaTeX,
you can submit it in any other format possible and we will be happy to
convert it for the final report.

Q: Can I include Haskell code?

A: Yes. Please use lhs2tex syntax (http://www.andres-loeh.de/lhs2tex/).
The report is compiled in mode polycode.fmt.

Q: Can I include images?

A: Yes, you are even encouraged to do so. Please use .jpg or .png
format, then, PNG being preferred for simplicity.

Q: Should I send files in .zip archives or similar?

A: No, plain file attachements are the way.

Q: How much should I write?

A: Authors are asked to limit entries to about one column of text. A
general introduction is helpful. Apart from that, you should focus on
recent or upcoming developments. Pointers to online content can be given
for more comprehensive or "historic" overviews of a project. Images do
not count towards the length limit, so you may want to use this
opportunity to pep up entries. There is no minimum length of an entry!
The report aims for being as complete as possible, so please consider
writing an entry, even if it is only a few lines long.

Q: Which topics are relevant?

A: All topics which are related to Haskell in some way are relevant. We
usually had reports from users of Haskell (private, academic, or
commercial), from authors or contributors to projects related to
Haskell, from people working on the Haskell language, libraries, on
language extensions or variants. We also like reports about
distributions of Haskell software, Haskell infrastructure, books and
tutorials on Haskell. Reports on past and upcoming events related to
Haskell are also relevant. Finally, there might be new topics we do not
even think about. As a rule of thumb: if in doubt, then it probably is
relevant and has a place in the HCAR. You can also simply ask us.

Q: Is unfinished work relevant? Are ideas for projects relevant?

A: Yes! You can use the HCAR to talk about projects you are currently
working on. You can use it to look for other developers that might help

 Salutare.

 M-am gândit de ceva vreme legat de proiectele care au legătură cu ROSEdu
 (comunitatea, de principiu, nu musai Asociația). Și faptul că nu avem un
 mod centralizat de a cere ajutor pentru proiecte și de a prezenta
 rezultatele.

 Cred că este foarte nimerit un eveniment periodic, să zicem o dată la
 3-4 luni pe care l-aș numi ROSEdu: Starea comunității în care să
 participe membri, simpatizanți, interesați, oameni din alte comunități
 și în care să organizăm niște prezentări despre ce am făcut în ultima
 perioadă și ce vrem să facem. Poate și niște sesiuni de discuție. L-aș
 vedea ca pe o chestie de gathering, cu o durată de 3-4 ore în care să
 centralizăm ce am făcut și ce vrem să facem și prin care cei interesați
 pot afla mai multe. Am organiza așa ceva probabil într-o zi de week-end
 în facultate sau într-o seară.

 Mă gândesc la 3 eveniment de genul acesta pe an:

 * una în septembrie: prezentat proiecte trecute din timpul verii,
   prezentat proiecte viitoare din semestrul 1 și invitat/încurajat
   oameni să participe

 * una în ianuarie: prezentat proiecte trecute din primul semestru,
   prezentat proiecte viitoare din semestrul 2

 * una în mai: prezentare proiecte trecute din semestrul 2, prezentat
   proiecte viitoare din timpul verii

 Pentru această primă întâlnire mă gândesc la o dată din jurul mijlocului
 lui septembrie în care să avem prezentări susținute de persoane in
 charge pe teme de forma: Open Source Summer School, ROSEdu Summer
 Workshops (trecute) și viitoarele WoUSO, LIF, WebDev, LPIC, Py4School
 (și poate mai sunt și altele de care nu știu). Și am invita cât mai
 multe persoane să participe și să afle mai multe despre ROSEdu și despre
 activitățile cele mai recente la un pahar de suc. Pe lângă socializare
 mi se pare un mod excelent ca oamenii potențial interesați să afle pe
 direct cu ce ne ocupăm, ce rezultate avem si cum se pot implica.

 Ce părere aveți?

 În măsura în care vi se pare o idee bună, o să fie nevoie de
 prezentatori pentru activitățile de mai sus și de asemenea o să am
 nevoie de o echipă de 2-3 persoane cu care să ne ocupăm de logistica
 acestui eveniment: rezervare sală, stablire program, făcut anunțuri,
 cumpărat sucuri și altele, colectat slide-uri și alte informații, pus
 anunțuri post-eveniment etc.

Mi-am amintit apoi de o prezentare de care am auzit acum ceva vreme și m-am

Eu susțin. De fapt, chiar s-ar putea folosi sistemul de la ROSEdu
Challenge în totalitate pentru evidența contribuțiilor și a
punctajelor (la UC, cel puțin prima ediție, evidența se ținea de
mână).

Este totuși un dezavantaj. UC era unul dintre proiectele cu o
componentă teoretic destinată celor din anul 1, semestrul 1. Nu am
evidența câți studenți de anul 1 au participat din primul semestru dar
nu cred că sunt foarte mulți. Deci, dezavantajul nu e major, no
worries here :)

 Via FB de la Laura, vine următorul link[1]. L-am postat și eu și am fost 
 întrebat dacă nu există și o versiune în engleză. Din ce văd, cineva a 
 întrebat asta și pe pagina de FB a World of USO.
