The wiki has been mostly cleaned up.

However, if you guys can do a double check see if everything is back to
normal, that would be really helpful.
In the mean time, account creation has been disabled while validating the
cleanliness.
Also, I updated the badContent regex list and TextCha to prevent amap such

In my $dayjob, I work as a sysadmin for a school in Beirut, Lebanon, where
we run Fedora on most of our desktops. I have set up and maintained a koji
system for the school for the last four years, and I also wrote the
yum-presto plugin that (at least in older Fedora releases, it's built into
yum in newer releases) enables the use of deltarpms in Fedora. I've been
involved with Fedora for the last seven years, and have been peripherally
involved with RPM Fusion on at least a few occasions, and have provided
hosting for a few users going through the RPM Fusion package review process.

If you have any questions for me, please ask.

I suspect the problem lays in the devel branch (it should be tagged

 (In reply to comment #9)
  Is this problem fixed ?

I would not call it a problem, more a RFE -- for something that even Fedora
 sill doesn't do iirc

but whatever: seems this is one of the dozens of things in RPM Fusion that
really would be nice to fix or improved, without anybody working on it :-((
(and most of the other things that need to get improved are way more
 important
 IMHO)

RFEs like this are in need of _somebody_ to make decisions.

In particular: Is using gpg-agent an option? (I think it is)
Would using expect be considered acceptable? (I don't like it)

Why not talk about that on rpmfusion-sysadmin list as well?

As I've mentioned in that bz ticket last year, a repomdsigncmds feature is
available in the pushscripts. It just needs to be configured _and_
evaluated. Without using gpg-agent (or expect), one would need to enter
the key passphrase too often (IMO), however. Has anyone followed the
development of the signing server (and its requirements)?

I did.

A fundamental problem with RPMFusion is that at the management level there
is no work-horse to just do it, i.e. to decide on something and work
with contributors on feasible solutions. Where something sucks, it needs
somebody to say we want to improve in that area and to put something
onto an agenda (or call it wishlist).

That what i used to say to the list and... as usual noone step up
except jeroen, nicolas and anvil to just do it (on the build and CVS side).
AFAIK, we always work that way.
i.e RPM Fusion was looking for help on having a Account system (FAS1
which was running but broken), i did step up and ask for improve
things and dit it with FAS2.

 Greetings!

My name is John S. Arntz I just signed up for this list and would like to
introduce myself. I have used Fedora since Fedora 5 and love the packages
that RPMFusion offers (Before RPMFusion I used FreshRPMs). I'm not a
programmer, but I know enough to make a basic package. I plan to make my
first package submission to Bugzilla soon, fceux, an NES Emulator based on
FCE Ultra. My first question, though, where would be a good place to host
the .spec and .srpm files? I don't have a website anwhere. I'm aware of
sites like rapidshare, megaupload, qshare, and mediafire. But I'm not sure
if those would be the best places to host the files. Once I am able to find
a place to post them, I will take the plunge and file my submission for
review. Also, the source contains gfceux which is a GTK Glade frontend based
on GFCE Ultra. How should I handle packaging this? Should I make them two
separate packages and submissions, since they are actually two builds
 included in
the same tarball and have to be built separately, or as a sub-package of
fceux? The .spec files that I have made are based upon fce-ultra and
gfce-ultra's .spec files so as they exist now, I have them as two unique
packages. You feedback is greatly appreciated.

 Hi John,

 Welcome!

About hosting webspace for spec / srpms in review. Let me know when you have
a solution, I have the same problem :)

Xavier, Perhaps we can provide some space on rpmfusion infra for rpmfusion
 contributors ?

Yeah, that's something we can work out.

As for how to handle the bundled gtk front-end, the rule of thumb is 1 tar
 bal one srpm,
so I would put it in a sub package,

 Regards,

 Hans

 Hi!

Some of you might be aware of it, other not, but we afaics have a
(whole) lot of medium-sized and small problems in the infrastructure

 Lamien (laxathom/SmootherFrOgZ)

 - multiple people offered to help in the past (²), but not even one of
those people found its way into the project/the infrastructure team:
Why? It can't continue like that, as that is a route to fail...

 - it sometimes take a lot of time until cvs requests are done

 - we have a x86-64 builder that isn't used since a few weeks (months?)

 - we afaik were asked to migrate to a different ppc builder but that
 work stalled

The new builder has been configured since a while.
David should move the builder port to the new afaick, any eta on that
if you read us David ?

 - using koji and bodhi for RPM Fusion is something that people are
 asking for every few weeks

As said before. Setup an koji and bodhi instance is not the problem.
We just don't have enough resources right now to build them up.
And those instances have to be part of the infra network.

 - there are multiple small problems (often not in bugzilla) that are
annoying, but not pressing (no automatic rebuilds, no repoclosure
scripts, repodata regeneration after push, incomplete delta-rpm support
are some of them, out-of-diskspace situations, some builders use mock
caching while others do not, rawhide out of date on of of the builders, ...)

So how to we fix all of the above to make sure RPM Fusion gets more
 healthy over time?

Well,
At a start, we can update the infrastructure page on the wiki with
right path on how to contribute to infrastructure side or some kind.

That one is on my todo list.
There will be a bunch of changes in the infra in the next weeks.

This is normal as bsnes has been moved to nonfree.

Again? Why? We recently moved it to free, didn't we?

Good point (according to bug #15).
I was confusing with faac which has nothing related :/

 I'm looking at it.

Ok, it's fixed now.
There's a build job running at

kmods.  I'm hoping RPMFusion will make my job easier and have a few
 questions.

RPMFusion maintains all the kernel modules I'm interested in supporting
(and more) in RHEL 6 and our Fedora deployments (which really don't
exist yet).  I would contribute OpenAFS to complete the set.

Hey, welcome Jack

I assume folks are interested in having OpneAFS, the nVidia drivers,
Open VM Tools, and other stuff maintained for EL6?

Actually people would. however, some stuff need to be done to get
things work from RPM Fusion

  What will be the
relationship with EPEL in for EL6-land?

You'll sure have better comment about it at epel@ list.

What about EL5?  Is there interest in using the older kmod v1 standard
 to add kernel modules there?

Are the kmod builds automated or must jobs be submitted to rebuild those
for each kernel?  I plan on extending my yum module to know what to do
in this case for kmodv2 as well.

Build request for each kernel release.
For EL5, i would stay on kmodv1 and move on to kmodv[1-2] for EL6.

Your FAS_login is solarflow99. Please, use that one.

That's right in Fedora Project Infrastructure side.

Even though, you registered yourself as solarflow99 in RPM Fusion

That's two different things. Fedora Project runs their FAS and so does

login solarflow99 didn't work 'cause you look like still blacklisted.

This is because in createrepo/Yum, someone either still plays with sorting
the entries by timestamp (bad, since the timestamp accuracy is not high
enough, they don't contain h:m:s!) or running reverse() on them at least
once. If they are reverse() in the repo metadata, any tools that read the
changelog entries need to run reverse() once more to fix the order. That
is bad, too. Currently, oldest %changelog is at the top in the other

Yum upstream tickets #6 and #7 fix such issues, which also mess up

I'm happy to help out co-maintaining things (e.g. for EL) as there
isn't actually anything that I'm particularly interested in that's not
already in rpmfusion. I was going to submit an xv package originally but I
think from the wiki that there's already one there.

Yeah. Do you want to take care of that for the EL branch? Then I'll
 branch it.

Yes, I'm happy to do that.

One thing before I add your name to owners.epel.list: Can you please mail
 the XV owner (see

 http://cvs.rpmfusion.org/viewvc/owners/owners.list?root=nonfreeview=markup
) what his plans regarding support for EL are? Maybe he wants to take care
 of it himself.

 OK, will do.

I did struggle to find a comprehensive list of what's available though
 - is there a repoview somewhere? If there is, I think it would be worth
 adding a link to it
from the wiki somewhere that casual browsers might find it.

Yeah, as mentioned some minutes ago in

 http://lists.rpmfusion.org/pipermail/rpmfusion-developers/2008-November/002611.html
There is a lot of things that need improvement. Our docs are one area where
 we really suck.

OK, I'll try to fix things where I see them; I trust there are no ACL
restrictions like (parts of) the Fedora wiki?

No, the Wiki is open to all users that created an account.

I created a PackageList page with links to the repoview index pages for each
 repo. Some things I noticed:

 1. Repoview for F10 says it's Development rather than Fedora 10
 2. The updates repos for Fedora 10 and EL5 are empty and don't have repoview
indexes. Does repoview not behave sanely in empty repos?
 3. The main release repos for Fedora 8, Fedora 9, and EL5 are empty, with
all of the content being in the updates repos. Is this ever likely to
 change?

As I'm a sponsor in Fedora I thought I may not need separately
sponsoring for rpmfusion (the wiki isn't clear on this I think), which is
 evidently not the case.

Yes and no. Yes, someone has to click the sponsor button in FAS (/me
normally). But that's about it if you are already a sponsor or a normal
 contributor in Fedora.

 OK, please click

 Done.

 Thanks.

(and unblock me from denyhosts - 212.56.100.58).

 Will do.

 Still seem to be blocked:

Hmmm. Do we really want to branching packages for F-10?

Yeah, this can be easily done and stay transparent for contributors.

  * We don't have support on F-11 on the builders yet

  * We don't have full support for a F-10 target yet

As you said, not yet. Targets are already set-up and awaiting F-10
official availability (including f10 repo)

  * We have no place where the push scripts could push F-11 packages to

The place will be available once f10 will come out.

IOW: With our current setup I'd say it makes less work for everyone (and
especially for those [e.g. me] what would have to adjust the setup on the
builders) if we wait with branching CVS for F-10 until a few days before
 F-10 really ships.

Actually this branch is due to my work on an mass-branching helper i'm writing .
We have 18 days left.

The README in presto-utils reads as if all that is needed is the

Updating presto repositories is just like creating them for the first

It shouldn't be difficult to add another module to the pushscript.
 See bottom 20 lines of

Just FYI, I removed [EMAIL PROTECTED] (and hence
this list) from the bugs 2, 3 and 4, as that account is the default
owner for all review requests. Hence if something changes we'll get a
mail to this list anyway and the mails from bugs 2, 3 and 4 thus were
 just redundant.

Note that I added [EMAIL PROTECTED] to some open
review bugs again to make sure the comments in the lists get send to the
list (¹), as decided some time ago. Once the bugzilla traffic gets to
much we can move it to a separate list, but I would prefer to not do
that, as review bugs with the current scheme get a lot more attention by
contributors and are in general more visible.

I'm afraid to be disagree with this decision.
By contribute to the RPM Fusion packaging side, contributors
approve to receive notifications about packages status (including new
package review) into RPM Fusion project .
If you won't receive a lot of mails then add filters or remove
yourself from the list.
Even if RPM Fusion isn't a huge project, do (preventing) thing at the
start is better than react on an overloaded or outage state.

(¹) reminder: if you do a review then reassign the bug to yourself and
add [EMAIL PROTECTED] to the CC list.

-1
the best way would be to the reporter to add to the CC the ML to notify
RPM Fusion contributors there's a review request running.

 - seems there are other people/groups/projects that have spins based on
livna already; have any attempts been made to get all of them together at
one table within the RPM Fusion project to bundle efforts?

Please don't take those questions as offense -- I like the idea with the
spin. I just want to understand the long term goals and plans better.

yeah.
To bring a rpmfusion spin out, some discussion and decision need to be
(such as the name of the spin, which packages should be shipped with
the spin, etc).
And all the work must be at rpmfusion.org

However, omega can be a base from where to start.
And if someone wanted to start something around this please, before

One possibility: is CVS access restricted to people who are members of
cvsextras? I just applied, and I suppose the process will be more or
less perfunctory for existing Fedora packagers.

I supposed you had a look to http://rpmfusion.org
If you just applied for the packager group you need first to be sponsored to
have cvs access.

A curious thing is that the CLA for RPMfusion is exactly the one for
the Fedora project. I suppose this is intentional, but I'm not sure
whether this gives the impression that we are an official Fedora
 project or not.

Yeah, this cla version should be move away

So then, you and others dribbles maintainers will be able to import srpms
  files for first.

Smooth, I've already tried importing my package into the nonfree repo
and I got ACL errors, will these be taken care of as well?

If you still have trouble on ACL, feel free to reach me this week-end to fix
this.

Re : rpm confusion? :)

2008-05-13 Thread Xavier Lamien
I already did this.
Check the rpmfusion mailling list archive for that.

Regards,

2008/5/13, Valent Turkovic [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
I googled for rpm fusion and googled asked me Did you mean: confusion?
 :)
I busted out laughing because I am confused regarding RPM Fusion.

I don't see any announcement regarding RPM Fusion and Fedora 9. I'm
not asking you to release RPM Fusion for Fedora 9 if you aren't ready
but please post something that explains what is currently going on
with RPM Fusion and should users still use other repositories or do
you recommend waiting for RPM Fusion and Fedora users use only that
 repository.

 Cheers,
 Valent.
