We've been using the method provided by Shane at http://wiki.bestpractical.com/view/ClickableLinks. We've encountered a situation though which leaves me asking if anyone has created an evaluation for file:/// URLs. We have network drives which, if were made clickable would relieve numerous headaches caused by our sales team.
I'm not good with regexes at all so can't really look at this and come up with much on my own.
