[RollTideFan] Tide has worked hard...

2003-10-10 Thread J.E. Lisby
	It is understandable that questions would be raised regarding the attitude
of an Alabama football team that has lost three straight games and four of
six this season.

	Crimson Tide Head Coach Mike Shula said following Thursday’s practice that
he thinks the team has responded well to the adversity. I think (their
attitude) has been great, Shula said. I think these guys are
hungry–extremely hungry–for a win. I think they're a little ticked off and
they've worked hard because of it.”

[RollTideFan] TGIF Groaner (Non)

2003-10-10 Thread TIDE1

Subject: Military Retirement Bonus

The pentagon recently found it had too many generals and offered an
early retirement bonus. They promised any general who retired
immediately, his full annual benefits plus $10,000 for every inch
measured in a straight line between any two points on the general's
body, with the general getting to select any pair of points he wished.

The first man, an Air Force general, accepted. He asked the pension man
to measure from the top of his head to the tip of his toes. Six feet.
He walked out with a check of $720,000.

The second man, an Army general, asked them to measure from the tip of
his up-stretched hands to his toes. Eight feet. He walked out with a
check for $960,000.

When the third general, a grizzled old Marine General, was asked where
to measure, he told the pension man: From the tip of my penis to my
testicles.

The pension man suggested that perhaps the Marine general might like to
reconsider, pointing out the nice checks the previous two generals had
received.

The Marine general insisted and the pension expert said that would be
fine, but that he'd better get the medical officer to do the
measuring.

The medical officer attended and asked the general to drop 'em. He did.

The medical officer placed the tape on the tip of the general's penis
and began to work back. My God! he said, where are your testicles?
Vietnam, the general replied !!

Cheers -VO-

Recruiting going well at AU
10/09/03

AUBURN -- Darius McClure saw the national hype, saw Karlos
Dansby and Dontarrious Thomas on the cover of a national
magazine, heard about how great Auburn was supposed to be.

But it wasn't national exposure alone that prompted him to
commit to play football for the Tigers.

It was an Auburn tradition that really won the day.

I went to Tiger Walk and a couple of fans already knew my
name, the Minor High School defensive back said. They were
yelling my name when I went to the stadium. That made me feel
pretty good.

And so it is that Auburn's personal touch - and perhaps a dash
of national exposure - that has the Tigers well on their way to
a big recruiting year. Auburn already has 10 players committed
to sign next February, an unusually high number for early
October and the quickest start for coach Tommy Tuberville's
staff in six years on the job.

Tuberville credits his longevity and his tireless staff - rather
than magazine covers - for Auburn securing players faster than
ever as it moves toward Saturday's game at Arkansas.

We've made good contacts and all the guys we've been recruiting
we've been recruiting for three years, Tuberville said. You
build relationships through camps and players coming to games.

But it is a less-than-perfect, cut-throat business.

Fellow SEC schools are suggesting Auburn could be investigated
for what former coach Terry Bowden has recently said about the
program, though the likelihood of that happening is virtually
non-existent.

[RollTideFan] Ladies, we care about you (non-Bama)

2003-10-10 Thread Mike Laborde
This is a public service announcement. We want all of our ladies to be healthy.

Fellatio may significantly decrease risk of breast cancer

(AP) -- Women who perform the act of fellatio on a regular basis, one to two times a
week, may reduce their risk of breast
cancer by up to 40 percent, a North Carolina State University study found.

Doctors had never suspected a link between the act of fellatio and breast cancer, but
new research being performed at North
Carolina State University is starting to suggest that there could be an important link
between the two.

In a study of over 15,000 women suspected of having performed regular fellatio over
the past ten years, the researchers found
that those actually having performed the act regularly, one to two times a week, had a
lower occurrence of breast cancer than
those who had not. There was no increased risk, however, for those who did not
regularly perform.

I think it removes the last shade of doubt that fellatio is actually a healthy act,
said Dr. B.J. Sooner of Johns Hopkins
School of Medicine, who was not involved in the research. I am surprised by these
findings, but am also excited that the
researchers may have discovered a relatively easy way to lower the occurrence of
breast cancer in women.

The University researchers stressed that, though breast cancer is relatively uncommon,
any steps taken to reduce the risk
would be a wise decision.

Only with regular performance will your chances be reduced, so I encourage all women
out there to make fellatio an important
part of their daily routine, said Dr. Inserta Shafteer, one of the researchers at the
University. Since the emergence of
the research, I try to fellate at least once every other night to reduce my chances.

The study is reported in Friday's Journal of Medical Research.

In 1991, 43,582 women died of breast cancer, as reported by the National Cancer
Institute.

Dr. Len Lictepeen, deputy chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society, said
women should not overlook or play
down these findings.

This will hopefully change women's practice and patterns, resulting in a severe drop
in the future number of cases,
Lictepeen said.

Sooner said the research shows no increase in the risk of breast cancer in those who
are, for whatever reason, not able to
fellate regularly.

There's definitely fertile ground for more research. Many have stepped forward to
volunteer for related research now in the
planning stages, he said.

Almost every woman is, at some point, going to perform the act of fellatio, but it is
the frequency at which this event
occurs that makes the difference, say researchers.

The research consisted of two groups, 6,246 women ages 25 to 45 who had performed
fellatio on a regular basis over the past
five to ten years, and 9,728 women who had not. The group of women who had performed
fellatio had a breast cancer rate of 1.9
percent and the group who had not had a breast cancer rate of 10.4 percent.

The findings do suggest that there are other causes for breast cancer besides the
absence of regular fellatio, Shafteer
said. It's a cause, not THE cause.

[RollTideFan] Wendell Hudson - AAD

2003-10-10 Thread Rick McMahan
So when did Hudson come onboard as the Associate AD? I completely missed
this announcement.

I am very excited about the addition of Wendell Hudson to our Athletic
Department as Associate Athletic Director. I truly believe that this is
a fantastic hire by Mal Moore for so many different reasons. It is
really exciting that Wendell has returned to his alma mater and he is
very capable of bringing a lot to the table in regard to the Athletic
Department. For most of you who do not know, Wendell has served as the
Athletic Director at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas and has
done an outstanding job. Wendell was the first African-American student
athlete here at the University of Alabama and was a pioneer in so many
different ways for our Athletic Department.

I also believe that it gives our student athletes in all sports a role
model for a position within this Athletic Department knowing that there
are opportunities for minorities here in the University of Alabamas
Athletic Department. Wendell will have oversight of mens and womens
basketball along with helping with raising the necessary funds for our
Crimson Tradition Fund. I dont think there is any question that Wendell
will be a tremendous asset in numerous ways to our University.

[RollTideFan] Home Alone......

2003-10-10 Thread Joel Perry
Well, here we are. Or better yet, here I am. It appears I am alone on this
message list. No one cares enough to post anything even slightly related to
Bama football. Slef's Prozac must be working.

Are people in the don't say anything and maybe it will go away mode? All
the joy and expectations that we had early in the season have met a rather
grim reality. We all made jokes and hee hawed when we talked about CMS
getting a bonus for winning 7 games this season. Only 7 games and that's
all? Heck, we picked 7 'sure' wins on our schedule and figured that an 8-5
or even a 9-4 season was at a minimum, obtainable. Granted, the QB situation
was a surprise to all. But still, to win 7 games at Bama and THAT be
considered reason for a bonus? At Bama

Maybe we are in a wait and see mode. Waiting to see if BA does start and
can the D survive yet another HuGe challenge? Waiting to see if BC starts
and then holding our collective breath every time he drops back to pass.
Worrying if the kicking game can get any worse. Wondering that, even if Bama
does win tomorrow, will the joy and expectations come back. A win over USM
is not a reason to celebrate is it? I mean, this is Bama football we're
talking here. We are supposed to win this game. A win is simply fulfilling
the standard requirements of Alabama football. But now I wonder if a win is
more of a whew, glad we were able to squeak by attitude than we beat the
hell outta you attitude?

A loss would only pour more salt in the wounds that were opened when Fran
left us high and dry. A win may only get our hopes up that we can salvage
the rest of the season with a miracle performance by a team plagued with
injuries and no depth.

Seems kinda ironic that the University decided to not allow the playing of
Rammer Jammer until the end of the game. The only band I've been hearing
after the game has been the opponent's band. And I for one am getting sick
and tired of walking down that gerbil trail while the other team's fan
celebrate.

See ya tomorrow..

 Pat, I hate the fact that BAMA can only play for pride this season.
 Winning CHAMPIONSHIPS and going to bowls is what it's all about at BAMA.
 You can bet I'll be cheering and hollering for BAMA each and every time
 they take the field and believing that they will find a way to win EVERY
 F'ING GAME! That's just the way it is...but the last three weeks have
 been heart breaking and has taken some of the wind out of my sails.

 Depression, man, nothing but Bama football depression. I'll be so glad
 when the 2003 season is over along with the post season sanctions AND
 the recruiting restrictions. Maybe then things will start to get back to
 normal. It's a crying shame I tell ya, a crying shame.

  All

 the joy and expectations that we had early in the season have met a

 grim reality. We all made jokes and hee hawed when we talked about CMS
 getting a bonus for winning 7 games this season. Only 7 games and
that's
 all? Heck, we picked 7 'sure' wins on our schedule and figured that an

  8-5

 or even a 9-4 season was at a minimum, obtainable. Granted, the QB

  situation

 was a surprise to all. But still, to win 7 games at Bama and THAT be
 considered reason for a bonus? At Bama

 Maybe we are in a wait and see mode. Waiting to see if BA does start

  and

 can the D survive yet another HuGe challenge? Waiting to see if BC

  starts

 and then holding our collective breath every time he drops back to
pass.
 Worrying if the kicking game can get any worse. Wondering that, even if

  Bama

 does win tomorrow, will the joy and expectations come back. A win over

  USM

 is not a reason to celebrate is it? I mean, this is Bama football we're
 talking here. We are supposed to win this game. A win is simply

  fulfilling

 the standard requirements of Alabama football. But now I wonder if a
win

 A loss would only pour more salt in the wounds that were opened when

 left us high and dry. A win may only get our hopes up that we can

 the rest of the season with a miracle performance by a team plagued
with
 injuries and no depth.

 Seems kinda ironic that the University decided to not allow the playing

  of

 Rammer Jammer until the end of the game. The only band I've been
hearing
 after the game has been the opponent's band. And I for one am getting

  sick

 and tired of walking down that gerbil trail while the other team's fan
 celebrate.

 See ya tomorrow..

Rick, I understand, I was sick at my stomach until Tuesday when a co-worker
got me pumped up again. He told me that was our last loss. We're gonna run
the table the rest of the year. And yes, he did pour me some crimson
Kool-Aid when he said it.

[RollTideFan] Funny Joke

2003-10-10 Thread Rick McMahan
Maybe y'all have seen this one, either way it made me laugh...enjoy...

~~~
A state trooper pulls a car over for speeding. In the car is an old
lady who is hard of hearing and her husband.
When the trooper asks the lady for her driver's license the lady
responds, Heh, what did he say??
The old man speaks up as he says, HE NEEDS YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE.
A few minutes later the trooper comes back to the car and says, Ma'am
I see you're from Florida.
The old lady comments, Heh, what did he say??
The old man speaks up as he says, HE SEES YOU'RE FROM FLORIDA. The old
lady nods her head, Yup.
The trooper mutters, Boy, one time, I got the worst piece of ass I
ever had in Florida.
The old lady replies, Heh, what did he say??
The old man yells, HE SAYS HE THINKS HE KNOWS YOU!
:)
[RollTideFan] Bama and USM averages per game
2003-10-10 Thread Steven Johnson
USM averages 40 carries for a meager 108 yards, while
Bama averages 36 for 158.
Passing, USM averages 14-29-1 Int 175 yards, while
Bama averages 17-32-1 Int 202 yards. Total USM 283
yards, Bama 359.  On defense USMs average in rushing
is 44 carries for 194 yards while Bama allows 36
carries for 114 yards, passing USM allows 13-26-1 Int
and 166 yards, while Bama allows 19-32-1 Int and 212
yards.  Total defense, USM 350, Bama 326.  Average
score per game is USM 16 Opponet 22, Bama 25 Opponet
22.  Both teams have questions at QB, but Bama runs
better and stops the run better.  We win.  :-)
 Subject: Military Retirement Bonus
 The pentagon recently found it had too many generals and offered an
 early retirement bonus. They promised any general who retired
 immediately, his full annual benefits plus $10,000 for every inch
 measured in a straight line between any two points on the general's
 body, with the general getting to select any pair of points he wished.
 The first man, an Air Force general, accepted. He asked the pension man
 to measure from the top of his head to the tip of his toes. Six feet.
 He walked out with a check of $720,000.
 The second man, an Army general, asked them to measure from the tip of
 his up-stretched hands to his toes. Eight feet. He walked out with a
 check for $960,000.
 When the third general, a grizzled old Marine General, was asked where
 to measure, he told the pension man: From the tip of my penis to my
 testicles.
 The pension man suggested that perhaps the Marine general might like to
 reconsider, pointing out the nice checks the previous two generals had
 received.
 The Marine general insisted and the pension expert said that would be
 fine, but that he'd better get the medical officer to do the
 measuring.
 The medical officer attended and asked the general to drop 'em. He did.
 The medical officer placed the tape on the tip of the general's penis
 and began to work back. My God! he said, where are your testicles?
 Vietnam, the general replied !!
