Former Crimson Tide standout Douglas takes over at Stillman

SportsLine.com wire reports TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Leon Douglas, who led Alabama to three Southeastern Conference championships and played seven seasons in the NBA, was introduced as head basketball coach at Stillman College on Wednesday.
Douglas was the first Crimson Tide player to be picked in the first round of the NBA Draft, chosen fourth overall by Detroit in 1976. Douglas spent four seasons with the Pistons and his final three NBA seasons were with the Kansas City Kings before playing in Europe.
Douglas, who had been working with the Oakland Intermediate School District in Bloomfield, Mich., spent two years as the assistant general manager and assistant coach of an Italian basketball team.
Douglas was a second-team AP All-America in 1975 and a third-team pick in 1976[...]
