@Rahan: for Maktaba Shamela we have inside sabily a software called Thawab
which is a .bok reader (the .bok is the book format used in Maktaba Shamela),
so it is a reader for Shamela books ;)

Microsoft Office is a proprietary Windows (and Mac) app so no, it's

not supported. On the other hand, LibreOffice is a free and open

source app that can open and save to Microsoft formats so I recommend

you give it a try. If you really need Microsoft Office, there are a

few guides that explain how you can install it by using wine. I've not

personally tried in a few years. Here's one guide but there are many

others: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Microsoft_Office

Avast is proprietary software but they do have a Linux version. You

should probably contact Avast if you need more assistance with

installing it. I believe that most Ubuntu users don't need an

antivirus: https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/ubuntu-help/net-antivirus.html

Some Windows apps might work on Ubuntu Linux (or Sabily, a derivative)

using Wine but in general, you're better off looking for Linux apps.

I'm not familiar with the other apps but I think Sabily's goal is to

include as much high quality open source Muslim software as possible

without needing to install other stuff afterwards.

this extension have the same behaviour, it keeps the activity button as you

Since it is not in Ubuntu, then it won't be included in Sabily.

There are better extensions for that functionality, I have put
mgse-menu in the staging PPA [1], although I don't like the idea that
it replaces the "Activities" button (I don't want to radically change
how GNOME Shell looks, at least not in this release), there is another
extension based on that one, that adds a menu button beside the
"Activities" button, I could package that one insh'Allah (but I think
alfanous will have the first priority)

Additionally I have also copied other components to the staging PPA,
which won't be included in Sabily, unless they are tested by someone:

  gnome-documents: Document manager for GNOME.
http://live.gnome.org/Design/Apps/Documents

gnome-shell-extensions-hamster: Time tracking extension for GNOME Shell
http://projecthamster.wordpress.com

gnome-shell-message-notifier: GNOME Shell IM message notifier

  gnome3-globalmenu: GNOME 3 Global Menu

  gnome-shell-extensions-gpaste: Clipboard management extension for
GNOME Shell

mailnag: A mail notification daemon for GNOME 3

mgse-bottompanel: Gnome Shell Extension Bottom Panel

mgse-windowlist: Gnome Shell Extension Window List (I understand that
this one needs mgse-bottompanel extension to be enabled)

[Sabily.team] will those packages be included?

2011-12-06 الحوار Abdalrahim G. Fakhouri

Salam Aleikum,
Hello everyone!

I hope that 11.10 won't take longer than a few days;
Anyway, may I ask a few questions?

1. Will VLC player be included in the biggest DVD?
2. What about PeaZip (peazip.sourceforge.net), will it be included?
3. Will the DVD include any independent window manager (like: OpenBox,
BlackBox, FluxBox, ...) in addition to the main GUI ?

Thanks in advance!
A. Fakhouri
