BDOS-formatted CF cards and hard disks shouldn't be too bad, since each
record is just a floppy image. The existing samdisk.c code that's been
around for a while should just need some offset tweaks for the most part.
Depends if everyone's happy with a command-line version, or whether a GUI
version is needed?

Working with real cards/disks does need platform-specific code to get at the
raw device though. I've already done the NT/W2K/XP and Linux versions for
SimCoupé, and Win9x shouldn't be too difficult to add (I don't have it
installed to try at the moment). SimCoupé also supports HDF hard disk
images, which would also be nice to have in the stand-alone utility.

Well a gui's a pretty thing - but we're used to using SAM - so are used to
controlling a computer the real way :)

CLI would be fine for me :)

I'm trying to set up a film company these days (www.popcornfilms.com),

I was wondering if you guys might like to critique the screenplay?

Please don't pass this around -- it'll be up for the next couple of

Want to add Quazar support

Hey guys,

Has somebody a good comet snippet how to access a Quazar for playing digitized sound. I would like to support the Quazar in my soon-completed application which will be capable of playing digitized music (aka samples ;) .

I do not own a Quazar and Simcoupe does currently not support the Quazar add-on (Simon?). But I should easily add Quazar support if somebody (perhaps Colin?) would send me a small Comet file.

Thanx

Bunnik reaults

2003-09-21 Thread Wolfgang Haller

Hello SAMmers.

As I told, yesterday was Bunnik meeting, and as I also commented, a new SAM
interface was shown. To be honest: two. The first can be connected only between
SAM and PC. The aim is to transfer programs from and to a PC harddisk. Thats
the point, Nomad (Stephan) comes in. Stephan presented yesterday a 5 MB 16
colour reduced PC Mpg file running at the SAM from a harddisk (hey presto,
a Record has 800K in size... ;-)
The reason for Quazar access is now to get the most of the sound which was
running with the video file. Stephan will also write the necessary transfer
files and he hopes to have them ready to the SPC/Joyce meeting on October
4th, near Cologne.
British readers will notice, that there are a lot of meetings on the "continental"
side

The other interface makes use of a one to one connection to the Spectrum
bus. With it you can do the same as above, but you have to add the SpectrumPC
interface described in a lot of the SPC Magazines (WoMo mag, yes its mine!
Since 1990!). A fine side effect is, that you can use a Kempston Joystick
interface at the bus which works fine, we have tested it yesterday while
playing "Raid over Moscow". Also Currah Microspeech is in my imagination
and has to be tested. It´s amazing

Maybe good news too. Martijn Groen works (again) on a Windows orientatded
desktop for the SAM and Robert van der Veeke will do the grafic. In one of
Gavins first SAM Community mags I first have written about, but know it seems
to keep on.

To David: Yes, I come to Norwich meeting However, I will bring my main
harddisk and the interfaces with me, but not my SAM or a Laptop (to be honest,
I have not a Laptop...). So if I can use anybodies SAM and/or Laptop there
I will show whats going on. A report of the Bunnik meeting with pictures
of the IFs will be in the SPC magazin (off course) and if Colin wants also
in SR. The "WoMo" mag is bi-lingual (german with english short description
or vice versa), the SAM sides are always in english. If interest mail me
for a free mag and all informations about SPC and price of the magazines:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

So, that s my plot (I am in hurry, so please excuse errors in english).

This is quite interesting in fact!

Does this allow SAM to treat the PC as an external
drive? What sort of transfer speed? Will it work with BDOS - and with an
existing Atom powered drive (ie - a CF powered one?)

Very importantly - as a SIAC owner... is the
interface big? :)

The reason for Quazar access is now to get the most of the sound

Alan Miles always commented on how more seriously
"the contintent" was for people who really pushed and where interested in their

ideas on networking SAM and Acorn machines, The ESI sound interface, and others

Robert are both brilliant people - so I'm sure it'll be worth
it!

Going back to Samco - I remember many people
looking at SAM Wimps... and Driver 2 - which never sadly appeared - was going to
be an amazing one as well Does anyone recall this? Cookie? Anyone else?
Steve Taylor was chatting about this at some length back from a Gloucester

To add mine as well, first of all Rijkswaterstaat (the department of

already started working on the A12 in the Netherlands, instead of arriving

with that Sam-Spectrum-Bus. Again something usefull for PC to do, acting as
a file-server for the Sam.

And indeed we are working on a GUI for use with B-dos and a Atom, but don't

Sounds very much like what Alan Miles had mentioned years ago when the Sam
was still in development - an adaptor to plug Spectrum hardware into the
Sam.

And we know Mike AJ had done the same way back in the early 1990's to use a
Videoface Spectrum digitiser on the Sam. David let me know about that one
for a Sam Snippet in issue 3 of SR. All quite interesting stuff.

Ah - I understand. The PC-ZX interface itself is a very clever Spectrum
