Yeah, though it's a necessary evil to keep in touch with some people -
certainly beats my cousins phoning me up for computer help!  You can always
use a libgaim-based client to avoid the slightly excessive official client.
I use Miranda under Windows, AdiumX on the Mac and GAIM on Linux.

I always use Trillian with MSN and AIM and have never had any problems with
it. When I'm on-line I mostly use MSN as [EMAIL PROTECTED] in case 
anyone feels like a

chat.

But the whole point of a list like this is that people don't have to be
online in order for a conversation to take place. If people want to arrange
between themselves to chat at a certain time about a certain topic that's up
to them but moving the list wholesale to MSN is IMO a Bad Idea.
