Easy - no year 0 - and 2000 + 1 = 2001 So the people said 'this is year 1', even though it didn't happen? I mean, I wasn't 1 until I'd lived a year. It still doesn't explain why everyone celebrated it last year. Maybe they're all cretins? Dave

VCD's?! Sounds interesting. What I'm after is a program that can write text and music to a VCD to use as Karaoke discs (my new job!). The alternative, CD+G seems to be a little PC unfriendly. So if anybody has any idea how I can mak emy own VCD's using perhaps something like PowerPoint to make the graphics and a WAV file for the music, let me know. Couldn't tell you about WinCoupe but I do know that SimCoupe on the Mac has had a couple of updates lately. Which was nice. I wonder what are these updates. Nobody contacted me and wanted the latest sources for years. So is it a port of an unfinished Win32 version to Mac? Eh? Or is it another (third) new clone of SimCoupe?
Re: A little bit of history...repeating
You might find this amusing. It was in today's Guardian, reprinted from a copy of The Times from 1799 We have uniformly rejected all letters and declined all discussion upon the question of when the present century ends, as it is one of the most absurd that can engage the public attention, and we are astonished that it has been the subject of so much dispute, since it appears plain. The present century will not terminate until January 1st 1801, unless it can be made out that 99 are 100. ... It is a silly childish discussion, and only exposes the want of brains of those who maintain a contrary opinion to what we have stated. So, if the establishment could count back then - why can't they count now? Has teaching become that poor. Nice. :-) Maybe 1900 is not as magic as 2000.
