Register my vote for the cretin theory.

Nobody actually said this is year 1 - the system was introduced by the
Venerable Bede about the seventh century.

Think about it. What's the date? 1BC, eh? Blimey, hope He turns up soon or

You might find this amusing. It was in today's Guardian, reprinted
from a copy of The Times from 1799

We have uniformly rejected all letters and declined all discussion
upon the question of when the present century ends, as it is one of
the most absurd that can engage the public attention, and we are
astonished that it has been the subject of so much dispute, since it
appears plain. The present century will not terminate until January
1st 1801, unless it can be made out that 99 are 100. ... It is a
silly childish discussion, and only exposes the want of brains of
those who maintain a contrary opinion to what we have stated.

So, if the establishment could count back then - why can't they
count now? Has teaching become that poor.

Nice. :-)
Maybe 1900 is not as magic as 2000.

it seems a bit like tempting an argument here, but i was just wondering what
ever happened to Bob Brenchley, the missing sam clocks, West Coast
Computers, the proposed 3D sam game by Colin Piggot, WinCoupe's relaunch and
 the rest of it.

If anybody has any of the latest news, let me know coz I've just gone all
 nostalgic for some reason.

As far as I know when Format passed away, peacefully in it's sleep,
uncle Bobby had to go get a job. He now works for a small company
building and maintaining PCs and selling web space.

He is still to be found in several usenet discussion groups such as

uk.singles (quite right DL not a personals group) where he is one of
the two resident evil tory bastards. Bob is the one without the gun.

alt.cats where he quite rightly annoys the merkins who think cats are
an indoor animal.

alt.gnashing.teeth
uk.rec.legal
uk.rec.naturist

and possibly a few more. He even claims to occasionally download what
has been going on here just to keep up.

He is no longer on AOL. (You don't really want to know where he posts
from do you ?)

He has recently become a grandfather by his son on the 7th Dec last.

His daughter Annie is still very pretty and available.

His long suffering wife is still suffering.

He has two cats.

What more is there to say?

oh yes I know, Best to let sleeping dogs lie.

Re: A little bit of history...repeating

2000-12-30 Thread Frans van Egmond
Thanks for the update ;)
Still one question left; what happened to (any) leftover stock from West Coast
Computers ?
