[Samba] samba 3.4.7 and windows 7 pro
tried following the instructions here http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 but still cannot join my samba pdc. is there any new settings that windows is requiring just to be able to join a samba pdc? I tested this 3 months ago and everything seems to work fine. Now that we're ready to deploy, everything isn't working anymore. -- View this message in context: http://samba.2283325.n4.nabble.com/samba-3-4-7-and-windows-7-pro-tp3787517p3787517.html Sent from the Samba - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba
[Samba] smbd crashes at startup (3.4.15)
Hi, I had troubles with samba 3.5.6 so I wanted to test a previous version. I have installed samba 3.4.15 from source but smbd crashes at startup with following output. I faced the same problem with other 3.4. versions. # smbd -i smbd version 3.4.15 started. Re: [Samba] Samba4 Install Permissions
On Thu, 2011-09-01 at 14:59 -0400, Ryan Leimenstoll wrote: Hello everyone, Very sorry for the incomplete message; I accidentally sent it prematurely. Anyway, i was trying to figure out if anyone had any ideas how to configure the permissions of the Samba4 install directory. I deleted mine, and reinstalling/reprovisioning does not correct them. The samba command will not start Samba, and doesn't return the usually startup feedback. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. There must be something else you have not repeated correctly, if you wiped everything and a reinstall using exactly the same commands doesn't work. [Samba] Strange permission problem when mounting a share
Hello all, I have been struggling with a permission issue with Samba for over a week now. I've tried many different setup, without much success. I am using samba 3.6 on Arch Linux. The user I am testing with is a member of the group nobody. I have a share defined as it : security = share [public] path = /home/smbshare public = yes only guest = yes writable = yes printable = no create mask = 0775 force create mode = 0775 The permissions on my *smbshare* folder (and the files within) are : drwxrwsr-x 10 nobody nobody 4096 Jun 5 17:35 smbshare When I am using Dolphin (KDE) to browse my share, everything is working as expected. I do not have to enter a pwd and I can create, rename, delete without any problems. For instance if I go to : smb://127.0.0.1/public/Pictures/ And create a file with Dolphin, the permissions are exactly what I want : -rwxrwxr-x 1 nobody nobody 2 May 20 16:33 test-dolphin.txt Now, I want to *mount the folder in my user home directory.* I am not using Dophin anymore, I do everything from the terminal. $ sudo mount -t cifs //127.0.0.1/public/Pictures /home/myuser/Pictures/ $ cd Pictures/ $ touch test-konsole.txt touch: cannot touch `test-konsole.txt': Permission denied *But the file is created anyway*... with the incorrect permissions (rwxr-xr-x instead of rwxrwxr-x) -rwxr-xr-x 1 nobody nobody 0 Aug 28 19:01 test-konsole.txt So what am I missing here ? Could it be related to this problem ? https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8061 Thanks! ** -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba
