[Samba] Cups + Samba + Vista?

2008-11-23 Thread Adam McCarthy
I have followed the various guides online for setting up Cups and
Samba, to where you can just right click a print and choice connect
and the printer just works but then it does not work with Vista. It
seems to print out tons of junk.

Is there a way to make Vista work with Cups + Samba?

[Samba] Trusted to work PDC howto

2008-11-03 Thread Adam McCarthy
I have already setup a Samba PDC out of version 3.0.x but it's
basically rigged together because I had to use like 3 howtos together
to finally figure out what they were actually doing.

I have tried much Google searching to find a way better guide, but no luck.

Is there a tried and test guide that is referred to all who ask the question?

[Samba] Allowing Squid to Authenticate to Samba 3 acting as a PDC.

2008-10-31 Thread Adam McCarthy
I know this has been done before, but all the guides I find online
seem to tell you how to join Squid to a ADS domain, but many claim it
should still work in a Samba3 run domain.

I have tried various Google results and no guides seem to work.

Is there some known howto that definatly works in this situation?

Most guides that I found seem to be outdated and the commands no
longer work at times.

From what I did manage, I just got Samba on the Squid machine saying,
Host not configured to be a member server.

If I try net join, it's just cannot get password trust or something to
that nature.

Fwd: [Samba] AD domains

2008-01-13 Thread Adam McCarthy
I don't think, but that would be a cool feature.

Does anyone know if a Samba server can be a member of more than one

I want a server in 4 totally separate domains to do 802.1x authentication.

Re: [Samba] Issues with samba PDC + WinXP clients

2008-01-08 Thread Adam McCarthy
I know this is slightly off topic, but does anyone know of a good LDAP
explanation manual or something? I somewhat understand LDAP, but when I look
on Google for info, it's always so complicated or something.

  Greeting mikko,

Don't use the registry modification! It is not necessary and cause
security vulnerability on the Windows professionnal client.

Your LDAP section seen not to be configure correctly on the smb.conf.
But it's is not the actual problem with the error message. I can't
remember what is the problem, but it is very simple to resolve. I will
make some test to have the same error...surely not to long to reproduce
  :-).

If you use LDAP, I suggest you to not use logon options in Samba but
use the LDAP options in the directory.

By example:

 logon home -- sambaHomePath
 logon path -- sambaProfilePath
 logon drive -- sambaHomeDrive
 logon script -- sambaLogonScript

  Hello,

[Samba] Group Policy in Samba 4 Alpha 1, not available?

2008-01-07 Thread Adam McCarthy
I got Samba 4 Alpha 1 up and running nice and smoothly. I followed the wiki
instructions for group policy but when I right click the Organizational
Unit, it doesn't not seem to have Group Policy in the properties.

Also, the latest Samba 4 just seems to crash MMC, so I can't really try it
with the latest. I'm trying Alpha 2 though.

Anyone know what I'm having this problem?

[Samba] Group Policy - Network Path Not Found - Samba 4

2008-01-07 Thread Adam McCarthy
Every time I try to add a Group Policy in to Samba 4, it just says network
path not found over and over. It does nothing else, but it seems like it
does create a few policy directories, but that may just be normal, I don't
know.

Is there some special things, you have to do, to use Group Policy on Samba
4?
