Re: [Samba] Terminal Server and Samba
A workaround for this is to put an entry in your crontab file to restart the Samba server. Ken Rory D. Hudson wrote: Hello there everybody, I have been doing some reading about Samba and terminal server, I am currently running in a Citrix Terminal Server environment with Windows Service Pack 4. It looks like it is a known issue that for whatever reason the Samba server will not allow connections at a certain time. I have been given workarounds in the past (i.e. create several different hostnames for the same ip address), but there still reaches a critical mass on my server (about 40 users). The server is hardly sweating, but this is causing major problems with my users. I was hoping that perhaps in some newer versions of Samba this problem might have been addressed. Has it? Please let me know, any information regarding this would be great. Re: [Samba] mcafee antivirus ?
We use Sophos on our Windows and Macintosh clients, as well as our Samba server and Linux SMTP Gateway (with Amavisd-new, SpamAssassin and Razor). VERY pleased with it. Re: [Samba] Citrix reports no more connections to samba server
We have this happen for us. To work around the problem, I just set up a cron job to restart the Samba service at 4am every day. [Samba] Slightly OT: LDAP System Administration
Was doing a search on Amazon.com, and they're now listing 'LDAP System Adminstration' by Gerry Carter coming out in February. Curious, I checked O'Reilly's site, and they don't have any info on it yet. Gerry, can you drop a few hints on what'll be covered in the book? I've been looking forward to this book since I heard about it a few months back, and I've got my order in. Re: [Samba] Anyone using antivirus software?
I concur. We use their SMTP MailMonitor to on our SMTP gateway server. We are also evaluating them (along with McAfee and Norton) to replace Cheyenne on our desktop population. They offer 30 evaluation of their software as well. Ken McCord On Thu, 2002-06-13 at 13:42, Ken Kleiner wrote: Hi I would recommend using SOPHOS (www.sophos.com). Re: [Samba] Samba as a PDC in a citrix environment
One issue I ran into is running out of connections. I found the answer by doing a search on deja.com. If you edit source/smbd/conn.c, at line 28 or so is the line: #define MAX_CONNECTIONS 128 I added a comment and change 128 to 384. Since then, we haven' had any problems. Ken McCord MIS Manager A.C. [Samba] Read-only users opening files in DENY_DOS vs DENY_NONE mode
Occasionally, when read-only users (via Unix permissions) open an Excel file, the file is opened with a Deny Mode of DENY_DOS, instead of (what I take should happen) DENY_NONE mode. Of course, this then prevents my read/write users (again, Unix permissions) from updating the file, and then I get a call asking to track the read-only user down. We're running Samba 2.2.4 now, but this happened on 2.2.3a (and possibly other older versions as well).
