Anyone are using Server Protect for Linux to 
protect the files on Samba File Server ? Are there any other product, I want to 
check every file saved on my file server.

Next month I will move about 3000 clients (w2k) to 
a PDC samba, after that I will have more 1200 clients, but this time will be 
Linux, my question is:

1- Is there domain logon, like we have for Windows 
users ?

2- is smb the protocol recommended to 
FileShare to Linux clients or NFS is better (is there another one) 
?

[Samba] For big guys...

To simplify my life and of my companyall 
users mapped just two letter Y: (default home with W2k) and i: that mapped \\samba_server\data

I have i:\grp\documents 

Question:

1- How can I set in this directory
Group System can read, write and 
execute
Group Eng only read
Group Network can read and write
Everyone no access

I setup SMB on RH 8.0. Whenever I'm trying to transfer a 
lot of data (1GB)from a Win2k box to the Samba box, the connection 
apparently breaks and thecp process dies. The log shows 
this:[2002/10/24 05:03:19, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_data(436) 
read_data: read failure for 10059. Error = Connection reset by 
peerAnyone have any ideas?

[Samba] Disconnected...:( It MUST be a kernel problem OR a Samba problem.

[Samba] Domain for Linux Clients

Who can I setup Linux RH8 clients to logon on 
domain like Windows clients ?

What type or NIC and HUB doe you have? Ethernet cable quality?

ALL 3COM (3 HUB 24 ports and 1 Swtich 8 Ports to servers, ethernet 3com
10/100), I just finish a b

We have thousands of sites running samba on all varietles of Red Hat. You
should make sure your hardware is all OK. We are seeing an incredible
number of instances of bad hardware that causes similar problems.

Do you have any program that need to keep the connection with a server all
time ? Do you use net use on your login script to map a letter ? Did you see
any red-cross on a map driver letter ? All my clients are Wk2.

[Samba] CUPS installation with SAMBA

I installed samba via rpm and I want to install cups
using the source code, anyone knows what are the
procedure to that ?

ps- CUPS will works with samba..
