[Samba] Error 0x000006d1 when connecting to printer from Windows 7

2011-10-20 Thread Ricardo Silva

Good morning,

we are having a problem connecting to samba printers from Windows 7 clients.
When trying to connect, it fails with the following error: Windows cannot
connect to the printer and Operation failed with error 0x06d1.

Samba version 3.5.4 on CentOS 5.6
Windows 7 32-bit SP1
Printers HP Laserjet 9000, Colour Laserjet 9500, laserjet 4000
Drivers: tried with Universal print driver (the only available from HP) PS, PCL
5 and PCL 6

Interestingly enough, the drivers are copied to the client and I can see them
in the print management.

Windows XP, 2003 and 2008 clients have no problem whatsoever connecting and
printing.

I tried, for the sake of troubleshooting, to connect using a local printer and
specifying \\server\printer as port. It worked for the 4000 printer, but just
hangs for the 9500 when finalizing installation.

There was a similar issue reported on 2008, but changing the group policy of
always render on server did not help on Windows 7

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ricardo

[Samba] Cannot print from Win2003 R2

2008-04-04 Thread Ricardo Silva

Hi,

We have a Windows 2003 R2 server (Enterprise, 64-bit, SP2) and for some reason,
cannot print to our samba exported printers.

I can add the printer to the system, all drivers are available, but any
attempt to print results in either Printing failed when starting
document (Firefox), Test page failed to print. when doing a test
page or just a greyed out print button from MS applications (IE, word,
etc).

The same server can print to other printers (non-samba) and to the same
samba printers if using a local TCP/IP port (bypassing samba and
CUPS). I am obviosuly authenicated on samba when trying to print and I
can access samba shares on the server that exports the printers.

All other machines (XP, win 2000, including a Windows 2000 TSE) can print fine
to any printer on the samba server.

Increasing the logging level and analyzing the results, it seems to point to an
authorization issue:

It seems like the Win2003 machine requests f000c whereas the other
that works (WinXP) only requests 8. Let me know if it is useful to
post more info from the log.

The server is Solaris 9, Samba 3.0.25a, printers are CUPS imported.

Thanks,

Ricardo

[Samba] SAMBA + ACLS +XFS PROBLEMS !!

2004-01-28 Thread ricardo silva
Hello you all,

I am trying to set up a samba server with nt acl
suport and i am having many troubles, help will be
very apreciated.

1 - Is it possible to use acls only with the local
users, no domains, no active directory, no winbind
resolver (i just wanna work with users and groups that
exist in this machine) ?

2 - I couldn't put samba to work, like i wanted
(question 1), so i follow a tutorial that uses pdc,
and winbind, available at
(http://c.mills.ctru.auckland.ac.nz/Samba/XfsAclWinAuth.html)
I can't go fowarder the net join command, i receive a
error message:

2004/01/28 16:23:24, 0]
rpc_client/cli_netlogon.c:cli_nt_setup_creds(249)
  cli_nt_setup_creds: request challenge failed

[2004/01/28 16:23:26, 0]
utils/net_rpc_join.c:net_rpc_join_newstyle(326)
Error domain join verification (reused connection):
NT_STATUS_INVALID_COMPUTER_NAME

I have sure, that the machine is well configured in
the pdc that runs windows 2000.
In the tutorial the author uses a setfacl command
like,
setfacl -m g:MYDOMAIN\\MYDOMAIN:rwx /var/net.
My setfacl does not accept the \\, is this normal
because i haven the winbind resolver working ?.

Could somebody help please !?
I am running slackware 9.1 + xfs + samba the last
3.x release.

tanks in advance
