[Samba] Samba setting read only on document on share

2010-05-31 Thread sub_woofer

Hello all

How do you allow someone in a particular group (i.e. the group writers in my
example below) other than the creator of a file (the owner) to set a
document as being read only? This is the only problem I am facing with my
samba shares at the mo which I need to fix, so any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Hope this makes sense!

The relevant samba snippet is below:-

[Share]
browseable = no
writeable = yes
path = /home/Share
comment = Public Folders
valid users = Server\administrator,@Server\Writers
public = yes
inherit acls = yes

When ls -l in the Share dir a files permission may return something like
this:-

drwxrwx---+  2 Kris   Writers  4096 2010-01-13 18:14 Test

If any further information or clarification is needed please let me know!

Thank you for any help in adv!

SW.

Sorry Lukas I dont really understand.

I know in the directory /etc/skel the three files I mentioned in my earlier
post are in there. I have taken a look at the contents too, but dont know
how (if meant to) change the files so that the profiles are stored elsewhere
and not cluttering up the shared directoryif that makes sense, I'd
rather put these files in the users personal home directories, if
anywhere...

[Samba] Samba

2009-08-09 Thread sub_woofer

Hello all

How do I stop or how can I change the following:

Currently whenever a user using their windows PC accesses a share on the
ubuntu server a directory is created for that user and their machine
containing the following documents:-

1) .bash_logout
2).bashrc
3).profile

How can I prevent this info (if required) being stored in the share
directory?

Many thanks in advance
