What should this tell me? As far as I understood your link, it's about making Win XP Home Edition join a Domain. I don't have XP Home, just XP mission impossible! windows XP home does not support domains!! Pro and some Windows 2000 Pro boxes. net ads join will add your samba box to the windows 2000 domain, and the domain does not have to support mixed mode. You will need to have kerberos setup and tested on your system (linux).
