Winbind will allow you to use the usernames from your Windows domain under linux. Mandrake 9.1 has support for winbind, in fact you can set it up during installation (use the Advanced button in the screen where you enter the root password). Depending on how many Windows workstations you have, it may be simpler to migrate the server to linux first, then you don't have to mess with winbind at all, you can use LDAP instead. Make sure you've already added the machine account to the domain.
