[Samba] error when running samba command

2012-01-24 Thread Jason Carlson
I receive the following error when trying to run samba:

# samba

samba: /usr/lib/ldb/libccan.so.0: version `SAMBA_4.0.0ALPHA18_GIT_C19753B'
not found (required by /usr/lib/libsmbconf.so.0)

Currently /usr/lib/ldb/libccan.so.0 is linked to
libccan.so.0.1-init-1161-g661d41f

i have compiled and installed
http://www.samba.org/ftp/pub/ldb/ldb-1.1.4.tar.gz and the latest git of
samba4.

Any ideas?

Re: [Samba] command length is incorrect error popping up

2010-08-30 Thread Aaron Solochek
re-posting this to samba list since it got no response on the technical.
If anyone has an idea for how to debug this, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

For instance, when I open the group policy management program on a

able to change group policy fine, as best I can tell)

But the place this is really bothering me is that it seems to be
breaking my roaming profiles. The event viewer shows:

Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is
attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the
profile will not be copied to the server when you log off. This error
may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.

 incorrect.

Anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it?

 Thanks.

[Samba] Command 'net rpc ...' yields nothing

2008-04-21 Thread FC Mario Patty
Guys,

I've been using samba PDC with LDAP backend for about 2 years now, and
they're working just fine. All this time, each time I join a new computer
(PC with win XP Pro, Me, win98), I use the root account and its samba
password. The problem is, I can use the root to login into the domain too,
which something I don't like. If i used the parameter invalid users =
root via smb.conf, then I cannot join any PC into the domain.

I roamed into samba official How-to (
http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/NetCommand.html#id2599196)
and found something interesting in the Administering User Rights and
Privileges part, the net rpc command. My goal was to create a new user,
other then the root, with a privillege restricted to merely joining PC's
into the domain (SeMachineAccountPrivilege). But when I tried one of the
command there, e.g. the 'net rpc rights list -U root%rootPassword', nothing
came up. Is this normal? Then how to do it right? FYI, I'm using
samba-3.0.20b-3.3 with openldap2-2.2.27-6, and openSuSe 10.0. Thank you for
your help.

Regards,

[Samba] Command tests work but can't browse the network

2005-03-08 Thread Jonathan Ryshpan
I am a Samba newbie who has just set up a Samba server running under
Fedora Core 3 and a client running under Win 98. Any attempt to see the
network from Network Neighborhood or from Windows Explorer fails
with the error box:

Unable to browse the network
.
The network is not accessible
For more information ...

I have run all the tests in the HOWTO section:
.../Samba-HOWTO-Collection/diagnosis.html
up to and including the last two:
C:\WINDOWSnet use x: \\claremont\TMP
on the client, which does, in fact make the device x: on my client
equivalent to /tmp on my server, and
$ nmblookup -M MYGROUP
querying MYGROUP on 192.168.255.255
192.168.1.35 MYGROUP1d
on the server, which looks OK.

Nevertheless (to repeat) attempts to browse the network from Network
Neighborhood or from Windows Explorer all fail.

Is my installation of Win 98 broken? Should I reinstall? What's going
on?

You tell me. Here is the output from smbd --help

king:~# smbd --help
Usage: smbd [OPTION...]
-D, --daemon Become a daemon (default)
-i, --interactive Run interactive (not a daemon)
-F, --foreground Run daemon in foreground (for
daemontools
  etc)
  -S, --log-stdout Log to stdout
  -b, --build-optionsPrint build options
-p, --port=STRING Listen on the specified ports

Help options:
-?, --help Show this help message
  --usageDisplay brief usage message

Common samba options:
  -d, --debuglevel=DEBUGLEVELSet debug level
  -s, --configfile=CONFIGFILEUse alternative configuration file
  -l, --log-basename=LOGFILEBASE Basename for log/debug files
  -V, --version Print version
king:~#

obviously it is smbd -b

Good luck.

result=-104, setting invalid is an error message. It means that the
server has disconnected. The second line with successful in it means
that smbmount was able to reconnect.

This is normal.

[Samba] command line errors

2002-06-07 Thread Mike Chambers

Hiyas folks,

A friend on another mailing list has RH 7.3 running along with samba. Samba
seems to work, but he recently has been CLI lately and is now seeing this
errors...

smb_retry: successful, new pid=1502, generation=35
smb_trans2_request: result=-104, setting invalid
smb_retry: successful, new pid=854, generation=26
smb_trans2_request: result=-104, setting invalid
smb_retry: successful, new pid=1485, generation=33
smb_trans2_request: result=-104, setting invalid
smb_retry: successful, new pid=1509, generation=35

I think he is using version samba-2.2.3a-6. I did a somewhat search on the
site and archives but unable to turn up the errors. Any ideas?
