You can kludge an XP home box, by adding a LOCAL user account on the XP
home box that is the same as a domain user - the only caveat being they
must have the same password... as long as they have the same password,
it should 'just work'...

I'm fairly certain you can do the same with a Win98 box...

Shares can have ACLs, which restricts by user, but not by IP
address.
