Re: [sane-devel] Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Problems

2016-03-05 Thread m. allan noah
The S1500 uses the regular fujitsu backend, not epjitsu. It does not
need a firmware upload. In fact, it is basically the fi-5110c without
the user control panel.

Re: [sane-devel] Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Problems

2016-03-05 Thread Carl Karsten
Could it need firmware blob?

/etc/sane.d/epjitsu.conf says:

11 # These devices require a firmware file in order to function, which
must be
12 # extracted from the Fujitsu Windows driver. Presumably the Mac versions
13 # contain the firmware as well, but the author has no access such a
machine.

(see file for instructions)

Here is my "setup on wily" script for my ScanSnap S1100

sudo apt-get install sane-utils

sudo mkdir -p /usr/share/sane/epjitsu
cd /usr/share/sane/epjitsu
sudo wget
https://github.com/ckunte/scansnap-firmware/raw/master/1100_0B00.nal

# md5sum /usr/share/sane/epjitsu/1100_0B00.nal
# e851ff36457f899a6540f3d74dc0c9c6 /usr/share/sane/epjitsu/1100_0B00.nal

sudo sane-find-scanner
# found USB scanner (vendor=0x04c5 [FUJITSU], product=0x1200 [ScanSnap

scanimage -L
# device `epjitsu:libusb:004:005' is a FUJITSU ScanSnap S1100 scanner

The S1500 has been supported for years, so it should work, even with
your older version of sane-backends. Try scanning as root.

[sane-devel] Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Problems

2016-03-05 Thread simon
I am unable to scan with my S1500. Linux 'sort of' sees the scanner, but
diagostics, command line scan utilities and the front ends fail.

I am running Linux Mint 17.1. I had a shot at getting this working about 6
months ago and failed. I am not sure what I installed back then but
obviously it was SANE and I think the fujitsu back end (Which, incidentally,
is offline at the moment - www.thebility.com/fujitsu). I *think* SimpleScan
is preinstalled on Mint, but in any event, I have it. On my second shot at
it today, I installed XSane. I also added my account to the scanner group
which I read was required then rebooted. Didn't seem to make any difference.

Here's what I'm doing:

1. Open the scanner lid (Which seems to send a notification through the USB
to the notebook. At least, that's what it does on Windows).
2. Start Simple Scan. It recognizes the scanner make and model.
3. I press 'Scan'. The error I get is 'Unable to connect to scanner'.
4. Press the scan button on the scanner. It flashes and nothing happens.
Usually a sign that it isn't connected.

Next, I repeated step 1, then.
2. Started XSane. It looks for the scanner, then comes up with the message
"No devices available."

Next, I opened a terminal window and ran sane-find-scanner:

Then I tried is as root:

Then I exited back to my own username and tried it again with a more verbose
output. This time, the scanner was seen, but there were still errors:

So what does this mean? It 'sort of' sees it?

BTW, in my /etc/sane.d/dll.conf file, fujitsu is not commented out. And
there is a fujitsu.conf file in this directory with the entries:

Which is consistent with the addresses for the S1500 for Fujitsu on the
SANE.org site.

What are the next diagnostic steps I can take?

Re: [sane-devel] PIXMA: New Protocol Timeouts

2016-03-05 Thread Rolf Bensch
Hi Louis,

In the meantime I had time to work a little on the imageclass sub-backend.

Please have a look at these commits:
c41640f
bbd327f

For the 1st possibly failing USB command I chose a reduced timeout
duration of 2 sec.

This code also affects the BJNP communications. But I haven't seen any
problems testing a MF6140 device.

Cheers,
Rolf

[sane-devel] CanonScan 5600 F

2016-03-05 Thread Sab

Hi !

OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Scanner : CanonSan 5600F

When I ask the terminal if the scaner is recognized (commande :
sane-find-scanner) I receive the following message :

   # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure
   your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something
   different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x1906
   [CanoScan], chip=GL847) at libusb:001:002
  # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not
   be supported by
  # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.

  # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other
   proprietary ports
  # can't be detected by this program.

  # You may want to run this program as root to find all
   devices. Once you
  # found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access
   permissions as
  # necessary.

I used the informations of the following page :
https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/scanner_usb_non_reconnu#installer_les_librairies_supplementaires

I've noticed that the */etc/sane.d/canon.conf *existed but there was
nothing in. I put them the information of the page with epson (I didn't
forget to change epson by canon and GT 6500 by CanonScan 5600F). The
sane-pygtk recognise now the scaner.
I wanted to do the change in */etc/sane.d/dll.conf* but this file
doesn't exist :-( . Where can I download it ?

When I try scaning an image via Terminal I receive this following message :

[genesys] WARNING: Your scanner is not fully supported or at least
[genesys] had only limited testing. Please be careful and
   [genesys] report any failure/success to
   [genesys] sane-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org. Please
   provide as many
[genesys] details as possible, e.g. the exact name of your
[genesys] scanner and what does (not) work.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Sab
