*Job tittle: Java Architect* *Duration: 6 Month * *Location: Chicago, IL (local only)* *Note: Only Local Candidates* Description The Systems Team for a custom J2EE application supporting treasury reporting, money movement, and fraud prevention functions for Northern Trust clients is seeking an experienced Java developer with a strong Sybase / SQL background. The team engaged in the migration of its database servers from Sybase 11.X.X and 12.X.X to Sybase 15.X.X. As part of these migrations a resource is required to assist with analysis of the application’s stored procedures and other components to determine where improvements may be made to enhance the application’s performance, as well as ensure the code is written to industry standard specifications. Other in-flight projects include new Java development engagements involving various modules within the application. The engagement is expected to last approximately 6 months with the possibility of extension. Requires an extensive knowledge of application and infrastructure systems architecture, excellent consultative and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with IT management and staff. Position requires strong analytical abilities. Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least five (typically seven or more years) experience in information system architecture methodologies, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
