* * *Send resumes to rame...@systelinc.com * * * *SQL DBA Consultant* *Location: Raleigh, NC*** *Duration: 6- 12 months contract to hire (Long term)*** * * Note: BGV and Drug test mandatory** Willing to come down for F2F** * * We are looking for a highly energetic individual with the following skill sets: ** · Microsoft SQL Server experience for 8 years · Strong virtualization skill and experience · Database creation, tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting skills · Highly qualified understanding of Microsoft clustering · Configure and setup Database High Availability · Strong TSQL skills and scripting experience with PowerShell · Should have strong time management skills with willingness and ability to handle multiple projects/initiatives at the same time · Self-motivated individual capable of improving processes/procedures and automation innovations between project cycles * * Skills Required:** · 5 – 10 years SQL Server administration · 3 – 5 years SQL Server design and planning work · Strong preference on Microsoft SQL Server Certifications. · Working knowledge of .NET and PowerShell – Ability to troubleshoot .NET application issues · Powershell scripting experience required Primary Duties:** · Design fault tolerant MS SQL Server environments · Design and implement automation using PowerShell scripts · Design and implement advanced backup and restore capabilities · Recommend and implement in depth tuning for infrastructure and databases · Review databases and determine compliance with Microsoft best practices · Review existing SQL Server infrastructure and determine areas of improvement · Implement software lifecycle method to ensure we are always running a supported release · Review Microsoft fix list to determine when its necessary to apply patches · Coordinate patch implementation and post patch testing/validation · Design a robust monitoring and event notification system utilizing existing monitoring software i.e. SCOM · Creates database schemas and sub-schemas to support the physical database model. Develops, monitors, and maintains backup and recovery for all assigned databases to include the appropriate transaction logging. Directs junior team members in database creation, database backup and D/R processing. · Works with application programmers, data analysts, business user personnel and project managers to develop the physical database design, make recommendations and design referential integrity. Develops data and user capacity requirements, develops user access requirements, and disaster recovery requirements. Writes SQL code, stored procedures and other data access methods based on application requirements. · Performs database performance monitoring and analysis and proactively implements needed adjustments, including reorganizing database structures and data. Researches and/or develops utilities for monitoring and evaluating database performance. · Works with other technical support groups to determine appropriate disk platforms, disk configuration, operating system kernel settings and database engine configurations. · Works with application programmers, security administrators and network administrators to configure the appropriate user connectivity path and allocates the appropriate data security and user access roles. · Provides support to application programmers through analysis, recommendations and data refreshes as requested for database access and performance problems. · Maintains documentation of backup and recovery procedures and of the physical data storage and logical data design for all assigned databases.
