** * * **** Job Title: *BI (Business Intelligence) *Business Analyst Location: 6++ month Duration: Aurora, CO Currently searching for a BI (Business Intelligence) Business Analyst for a 6++ month contract for a first class health care client of ours in Aurora Colorado. Key skills here are true Business Analysis expertise first and report development second with a preference on *Cognos*, but not a must. SQL experience would be more of a key. Description Takes the lead role in gathering, creating & editing requirements for the Business Intelligence (BI) program, by partnering w/ the appropriate business/technical teams & customers for use in the Colorado region. Assists in developing best practices & works in conjunction w/ other analysts on the Business Intelligence & IT teams to follow & implement these standards. Plays an advisory role w/ customers to understand their business needs & how to translate these into technical solutions, which support the development of analytics & reporting. Works w/ resources on the BI & IT teams to develop reporting specifications based on customer requirements as related to the organizational needs, in the most effective manner possible. Maintains & supports a culture of compliance, ethics & integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies & procedures & performs in accordance w/ the regulatory requirements, external laws & accreditation standards as they relate to BI. Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse. Essential Functions: • Elicit requirements using interviews, group facilitation, prototyping, data analysis, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, & workflow analysis *• Work closely w/ the technical development team & data stewards to clearly document source elements & ensure standardized values, formats, business rules/algorithms, meta data requirements, & data element relationships are understandable to the business customers & BI development group* • Work closely w/ the technical development team to document the specifications for mapping & transformation rules all the way from source to target w/in our metadata repository • Reviews data models & mapping documents for consistency & traceability to requirements • Creates report specifications w/ BI developers & IT technical teams • Works collaboratively in a team environment w/ the ability to interact effectively w/ other groups in the organization • Communicates w/ different levels of management regarding information needs • Ability to discuss these solutions w/ both technical & business community • Develops/maintains appropriate documentation on projects w/in their responsibility, during the development lifecycle • Takes a lead role in collaborating w/ IT on any issues involving BI architecture/structure of the data repositories, including development of new structures • Interacts proactively w/ analysts & other users to define requirements & assess impacts to new or existing data structures, & communicates this to IT in appropriate formats or documents *• Experience & advanced understanding of relational & data warehouse DBMS environment - Star schema, snow-flaking, slowly changing dimensions, aggregate table design & navigation, operational data stores, data marts, etc* • Proactively share existing technical knowledge & thought process w/ current staff • In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the company’s mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives • Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors • Performs other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications: *• A minimum of 3 years in a technical Business Analyst or similar role working w/ data warehouse and/or business intelligence environments* • Experience conducting sessions w/ business users to identify data sources, key facts & dimensions that support the business requirements *• A minimum of 5 years of experience w/ SQL or BI tools such as (Cognos, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Hyperion, etc.)* • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer information systems, computer science, business, statistics, health services or related area • Strong oral, written & interpersonal skills for interacting & collaborating w/ analysts, physicians, & business staff throughout the organization; ability to communicate clearly in writing to document data requirements & translate into technical solutions • Demonstrated ability to be productive w/ minimal supervision • Ability to function as a technical writer preferred *• Experience w/ health care, insurance or similar type environments preferred* -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SAP or Oracle Financials" group.
