*Project Description: *
The consultant will work with University of Wisconsin System Administration
(UWSA) staff to design and implement an interactive Accountability
Dashboard of university performance information for use by the general
public on web browsers and mobile devices. The consultant will also develop
a written plan for converting other existing data-rich publications into
interactive online visualizations.
The consultant will be housed at UW System Administration in the Office of
Policy Analysis and Research (OPAR). S/he will work with a project team of
• OPAR analysts, who will provide and maintain content for the
Accountability Dashboard, and
• Office of Information Services (OIS) staff that will support any needed
changes to data warehouse(s) and will facilitate hosting of Tableau Server,
if used.
The consultant also may work with Communications staff who oversee the
organization’s website and with UW System executive leadership, Regents, or
elected officials with feedback on requirements and design.

*Knowledge/Skills for Tableau Consultant: *
• Experience creating high-quality, intuitive visualizations and dashboards
with Tableau Desktop
• Experience developing efficient workflows that incorporate existing data
from relational databases, Excel, and other sources
• Experience with user and administrator functions of Tableau Server and
Tableau Public/Public Premium
• Ability to evaluate customer needs effectively and evidence of using good
judgment.
• Ability to cope with a dynamic and demanding environment where
expectations for performance and productivity are high.
• Ability to meet project deadlines.
• Evidence of excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication
skills.
• Ability to work well with diverse people and groups with different levels
of technical knowledge
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently

1.  Design and implement an interactive accountability dashboard for use on
web browsers and mobile devices.
a.  Identify data in Oracle databases, Excel, and other sources and
restructure for use in Tableau (OPAR, OIS).
b.  Design new Oracle tables and views as needed (OPAR, OIS).
c.  Design a dashboard with multiple accountability and performance
indicators grouped at multiple levels and linked in multiple ways (OPAR).
d.  Present design alternatives to stakeholders, help clarify requirements,
and conduct demos (OPAR).
e.  Recommend method(s) of publishing dashboard to web  mobile devices,
such as through Tableau Public/Public Premium services or Tableau Server (
OIS, web team).
f.  Ensure security of published data (confidentiality, integrity,
availability).
g.  Publish dashboard to integrate with or mimic existing UWSA website for
a seamless user experience (web team).
h.  Track usage of dashboard (web team).
i.   Train OPAR and OIS staff to use, update, maintain, and modify the
dashboard.

2.  Develop a written plan for converting other data-rich publications to
interactive online visualizations.

b.  Suggest options for more efficient organization and presentation of
