*Job Title: Junior Network Engineer Location: Petersburg, VA Duration: 6+ Months * *Rate: $35/hr on C2C.* Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes and service records. Assist with Cisco Unified Communications (VoIP) implementation and support Monitor and update Blue Coat ProxySG Web Filters Provide technical assistance and support to faculty, staff, administrators, and vendors. Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware and software upgrades. Assist with the implementation of Juniper endpoint security (NAC) Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed. Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of network devices. Ensure reliable network connectivity services are available for end users and devices. Work with Project Management Office to complete network projects and tasks. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. Utilize ITIL change management best practices when making modifications to network infrastructure. Maintain and update Visio documentation of campus buildings. Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports. Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team. Minimum Qualifications BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience is required. 3-5 years of progressive experience with LAN, WAN, and WLAN implementation and administration. Considerable experience in installing, maintaining, and configuring data network and/or network services such as routers, switches, firewall, fiber optic cable, copper cable, voice and data security systems. Considerable experience in installing, maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting Juniper switches, Cisco IOS, voice network systems, wireless access points, and VPN’s. Knowledge of OSPF routing protocol. Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to quickly analyze data and problem solve. Preferred Qualifications Active CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA-Junos, or JNCIS-ENT certification is preferred. Higher education, governmental agency, or corporate/industry information security is preferred.
