Job Description:
UNIX Engineer/System Administrator V is responsible for Unix / Linux server
system design, establishing configuration standards, deployment, on-site
and remote administration, user support, performance monitoring and tuning
and capacity planning. Works independently resolving complex, escalated
technical problems.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Analyze all aspects of the existing infrastructure and recommends
modifications that will enhance system reliability, availability,
serviceability and scalability.
Evaluate new developments and recommend infrastructure modifications.
Assist in defining standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics.
Evaluates system specifications, input/output processes, and working
parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
Knowledge of fundamental concepts of distributed, complex enterprise
deployments: networking, communication protocols, VLANs, multi-tiered
environments, virtualization technologies, storage, hypervisors, routing,
monitoring, storage connectivity, capacity planning, file systems, backups,
load balancing, firewalls.
Experience configuring, deploying, and supporting highly available and
redundant. infrastructures: clustering, HA, load balancing, disaster
recovery.
Experience configuring virtual interfaces, multipathing, and bonding.
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar degree and a minimum of 6
years of experience. 10 years technical experience in lieu of degree will
be considered.
Unix / Linux/ SUSE 11 or RedHat 6 System Administration
A minimum of 6 years of Unix experience
Senior status for the following products: Linux SUSE RedHat; LVM
Strong troubleshooting, problem resolution, and analytical skills
