SCOPE OF SERVICES
The Senior Network and Security Engineer provides professional consulting
services and security expertise for the Department of Information
Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) End-To-End Procurement Initiative
Program, now known as Automated Procurement Tracking (APT). The APT
project is built on a dedicated technical infrastructure, running Windows,
WebLogic and Documentum. The Senior Network and Security Engineer ensures
that the APT design, implementation, testing and deployment meet all
relevant IT security policies and best practices.
Role Responsibilities:
Reviewing the project requirements
Assisting with design, documentation and implementation of the security
architecture
Assisting in assessing system compliance with security policies, standards
and best practices
Preparing the Security Design Document
Reviewing the solution architecture with the IT Security Engineering team
Assists during product development, ensuring the solution complies with the
DoITT's security policies
Documenting the logical and physical environments
Building-out the security components in the logical and physical
environments
Signing CSRs for all components that require SSL certificates
Implementing firewall rules in the staging environment
Assisting in submitting and tracking production firewall requests
Assisting in submitting and tracking DNS requests for both the production
and staging environments
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Note: candidates who do not have the mandatory
skills will not be considered.
CISSP certification;
At least eight years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based)
experience in local area network planning, design, configuration,
installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring,
maintenance, enhancement, and security management;
Proficiency in applying host based security; Knowledge in the areas of
networking, firewalls (multi-vendor), OS hardening, and web-based
applications;
Extensive experience in setting up and troubleshooting of multi-site, multi
firewall, multi VPN deployments in support of B-to-B, e-Commerce, and other
related business projects between City of New York agencies and 3rd-party
organizations
Knowledge of CityNet security and network infrastructure, as well as Web
facing applications hosted by the City of NY
Previous hands-on involvement into developing, implementing, communicating
security policies and/or plans for data, software applications, hardware
and telecommunications for the City or State government, as well as
interaction with different areas of the organization during project
requirements gathering, design, implementation and documentation.
