An experienced application Development Lead is needed on the Performance and
Compensation Excellence (PACE) program.  Ideal candidate will possess a
broad range of technical experience and exposure to leading technologies and
substantial data integration experience (including integration with legacy
data platforms), particularly in financial industry settings. The position
demands broad technical skills, excellent abilities in transforming complex
object-oriented business requirements into solid and executable
solutions/designs, and high quality code delivery (note: this is not an
Agile methodology project).  The PACE Program is a complex, multi-work
stream effort to migrate legacy compensation business processes and data
thru middleware (webMethods) to a new single packaged compensation platform
with pre/post-processing data integration.  The project has multiple
overlapping products executing concurrently at different stages of the SDLC.
 Note:  the architecture for this program is defined and not subject to
substantial revision.  The Development Lead for this program will need to be
able to effectively communicate, prioritize, and provide work direction to
all technical efforts as well as work across team boundaries and work
effectively with project management, testing, and the business team.
 Previous project roles of designer, developer, team lead, and mentor on
several projects is expected.

*In this role the Development Lead must be a contributing member on the
front-end planning phases of the project but more importantly be a leader
and on the execution / build phases, by:*

   - Providing direct technical execution leadership through the system
   development life cycle for the selected solution, giving work direction to
   designers/developers for various technologies to deliver on the
   requirements.
   - Working with the project internal Solution Architect and others to
   evaluate and provide feedback on the appropriate architecture / solutions
   that meets business and technical requirements and is consistent with
   industry best practices and Thrivent environment policies/practices.
   - Negotiate alternatives and options with project management, the
   business team, and testing teams to meet project goals.


*Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required: *

   - 10+ years wide-range experience in Application Design/Developer roles
   (required)
   - Strong experience with *data integration* (required), including *legacy
   data platforms*.
   - Framework experience with *Hibernate, Spring, Struts* (preferred)
   - Knowledge of Business Process modeling through UML.
   - Experience with *Web Methods* (preferred) or related middleware
   technologies.
   - Project Experience in *Financial Industries* (required) and with Life
   and Health Insurance Products (preferred)
   - Experience with Financial Services back office integration programs
   such as commission systems (preferred)
   - Language experience with  Java, SQL, XML
   - Design experience: Object Oriented Analysis  Design, Structured
   Analysis  Design, Application Layering
   - IDE: Rational Software Development Platform (*RAD*)
