Job Title: Solaris System Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL 60606
Duration: 6+ Months
*Description:*
Actively seeking an experienced Unix Systems Engineer with at least 8 years
of Unix system administration experience for a contract role located in the
Chicago loop.
This position will provide 3rd level technical systems and applications
infrastructure support for client's ITs Unix Engineering distributed
systems. This individual has excellent trouble shooting skills and
analytical skills in order to react to alerts from our monitoring tools as
well as Service Desk notifications to resolve incidents.

-Sun Solaris 8/9/10
-Symantec/Veritas: Storage Foundations/File system(VxVM/VxFS), Veritas
Cluster Server VCS/VVR/GCO, NetBackup
-Enterprise Monitoring Tools (e.g. HPs Sitescope, Openview, BAC/BPM; Gomez)
-Apache and Iplanet web servers
-Middleware Engineering/J2SE Applications(a plus) - BEA Weblogic, BEA
Tuxedo, Java Tomcat, Tibco/MQ Series, JBOSS, SITA Runway
-Unix shell scripting/Perl
-SAN Architecture and Technologies which include storage subsystems
hardware and software, specifically HP/HDS storage subsystems, Brocade
switches, NAS
-Networking e.g. DNS, protocols, load balancing, etc.
-Incident/Problem Management Tools (e.g. HP ITSM, Peregrine Systems)
-Design/Architecture of distributed computing environments and highly
available (HA and RAS) systems
-Windows and MS Office tools
-Well versed in Internet technologies(a plus)
-DB Technologies: Oracle 8i/9i/10G, 10G RAC (a plus)
-Linux (RedHat/SuSe) (a plus)
oLinux operating systems, specifically Red Hat and SUSE Linux
oLinux clustering technology, specifically RHEL Clustering and VCS
ox86 hardware, firmware and device drivers for HP Proliant servers
oLinux software distribution and recovery tools including rpm, RHN,
Satellite server, Kickstart.
oLinux disk management tools including Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and
Veritas Volume Manager
-Content Management systems like Vignette product suite (a plus)
-ITIL Foundation(a plus)
*Education:*
-BS in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
