*Position General Purpose*

The Enterprise Development Services (EDS) team is responsible for the
technology design, development and deployment of mission critical
applications.  While these projects are primarily Web-based, EDS also
provides a wide array of consulting services and participates in various
sized projects from inception through completion.  As a member of the EDS
team, you will be expected to provide technical leadership to your team
members within all phases of the projects you’ll be assigned.



*Essential Duties    *

   1. Participate in the collaborative analysis, design, and development of
   new and existing Web-based applications.
   2. Experience developing Web Applications using current tools and
   methodologies.
   3. Actively participate in creating and evolving standards and best
   practices for our development process.
   4. Interact with customers through Agile project management process.
   5. Work closely with project managers to estimate tasks.



*Education and Experience*

   1. Bachelors degree plus four years of experience with Web Development or
   equivalent combination of education and experience.
   2. Experience with Ruby on Rails development framework.
   3. Strong understanding of MVC application design.
   4. Experience with Relational Databases especially Oracle and SQL Server.
   5. Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) preferred.
   6. Experience with OOA&D techniques and implementation strategies.
   7. Experience with general Web architecture, such as browsers, Apache Web
   server, and Tomcat Application server.
   8. Experience developing Java applications preferred.
   9. Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
   10. Experience with version control systems such as SVN.



*Skills and Abilities***

   1. Proven ability to design and develop Web based applications in a
   project driven environment.
   2. Understanding of Gems available for the Ruby on Rails environment.
   3. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
   4. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
   5. Must be a fast learner with a strong desire and motivation to learn
   about the higher education environment.
   6. Ability to work either independently or closely with others as the
   needs of the project dictate.
   7. Must maintain a customer service and quality focus at all times.
   8. Experienced in Agile Development Methodology.
   9. Familiar with Software Development Lifecycle Methodology (SDLC).
   10. Must be highly adaptable to perform in a fast paced environment.
